That version of the Dolphin's Cry is really not bad. Probably was better than the last time I heard him do it.

And kudos to Ed for playing 8 of his own songs, and only 9 Live songs. Seriously. 50/50 is a much better ratio than 25/75. When he gets it to 25% LIVE and 75% his, and he bills himself as himself, and he stops being a totally douche... well, maybe I'll go see him.
I'm about to listen to Rise. I'm actually almost impressed with the Dolphin's Cry video. The drummer leaves a lot to be desired, but he is still better than Ramy, I think.
Though I wish Ed wasn't wearing a tank top. It's irrelevant, but it just is a weird look for him.

and I can't lie. I could very possibly like this song. it's a solid Christian rock song (which, sadly, is a different category of music than actual rock - others have stated that some Christian artists make amazing music... sadly, so far, Ed is not one of them). This is still too pop/Daughtry. But it's much better than I anticipated.

I actually think it follows Zion pretty well. I expect it to be the best of his new offerings. I think you're maybe letting your personal feelings about him color your opinion of this song.

I agree. I think Zion and Eat Your Love are the best of Alive. I just listened to it probably 20 times. (ostensibly to get a better handle on the lyrics). its catchy.

His lyrics are still using so many similes, which is lazy high school English class style writing. Incredibly bland, like a margarita pizza, like a water instead of a fine wine, like a ..ah you get the point.

agreed. it makes me sad that its what I've come to expect. and like I said, its very in line with a lot OD popular Christian music. most CCM could have been written by an 8th grader.

A bit poppy, but that's what Ed is, and i have no problems with that.
Live is still rocking, and Ed is popping. I like Ed, but i love Live even more.

I liked about 50% of it. I like him behind an electric guitar when he plays it like he did on TC. There were flashes of it. However, I didn't like him trying to legitamately rock and then switching to a big silly grin and popping it up, then right back to giving it a real effort to rock.

It was like watching a battle between old Ed and new Ed try to occupy the same body. Old Ed showed up at the end and dropped the MF word and just lost his Christian audience.

The lyrics were definately plain.

Aside from all that.....his band is bad. Real bad. I mean, they didn't even move for almost the entire song. Ed ought to replace them with cardboard cutouts and just play the music over the system.
