Listened to the clip again. It's like a real song off a real album that's got some depth and integrity to it. Haven't had that from Live since, oh, 1999? (Well, that's harsh on V as we know its complex backstory)...

Completely agree and would like to reiterate that V was supposed to be Live being goofy and experimental but the record company screwed it all up. V wasn't the beginning of the end. BoP was.

And V actually had some really high points and obviously some exceptionally low points...but it was probably supposed to. It was experimental.

experimental or not, the lyrical composition of V was a complete abortion. experiment all you want, but no honest man is going to write those lyrics and actually think they are worth the paper and pen that was used in the process.

I agree for the most part. I think Overcome was a gem. And there are a few other songs that, if you really considered the album experimental, they aren't bad.

I think there are 3 or 4 songs, that being in the context of an experimental album, aren't bad.

But there are many, that being in the context of an experimental album, are shit.

Overcome, full band, was good.

Transmit Your Love, Deep Enough, Simple Creed, Like a Soldier, People Like You, Flow, The Ride, Ok?, Hero of Love all need new lyrics, but for the most part the music was fairly solid.

Call Me a Fool, Nobody Knows, and Forever May Not Be Long Enough can all burn in hell.

Speaking of this, does anyone have any stripped down mp3s of V, that don't contain any of the singing. I'd like to enjoy some of those songs for once.

Man...Some of you may lose respect for me but I can actually tolerate Call Me a Fool.

I hate the album version of Simple Creed. Not a fan of Transmit Your Love.

The rest we are on the same page.

But that is about what you can expect from an experimental album I guess. A mixed bag all around.

Really? I thought The winners on the album were transmit your love and FMNBLE. That part of the song that says "my faith in love is like blood, I spill it freely for some" is some heavy rocking and reminds me of a cross between Stage and TDTH. I appreciate the sitar outro on The Ride but the lyrics are pretty lame.

I think in 2008 I made alternative lyrics to Like a soldier to prove I could write better lyrics to the song. I'll look for them. EDIT: Found it, http://www.fansoflive.com/forums/index.php...topic=1540&st=0

Definitely not going to rep you for that admission. Easily their worst song.

Like I mentioned, I think this is what V is. No two Live fans will fully agree on V and all it's songs, which is kind of cool. It really was a true experimental album except for the fact that the record company screwed it all up.

LOL, perhaps. I don't know. Honestly, I listened to it in the middle of this post and I still can't say why I like it, but I do. Maybe it is because the lyrics, to heavier music, might make a better song. Maybe it is because it is chill and just flows well. Maybe because it relates to me and I don't really know it.

Maybe I just need a TGF ass-kicking to set me straight.

Maybe we will never know.
