I like the guy who said," well I have never heard of live, and I'm a huge rock fan". Or something like that. WTF,how dumb are some of these people??

I had almost the same thoughts when reading that post.

It just annoys me that they are giving lavishing praise to this Chris guy,and saying he's better than Ed. Newsflash you tossers,it's Live's song, they wrote it,they own it.Chris is a puppet,a singing budgie!

the Australians are wound up tonight! lol.gif

good posts by you and love shines.

lol. the IQ level over there isn't real high.

some of my faves are people saying,
Ed is too feminine.
my 8 year old thought Chris was better than Ed.
is Ed anorexic.

but the winner has to be:

I agree completely-he made the guy from Live look like a second rate joe's bar and grill type singer.

these are the future fans of Chris. my oh my.

its not all positive

"The heavy hitters, past and present, were out in force to juice up Wednesday's otherwise anticlimactic season closer, and it was sometimes difficult to tell who needed the other more. There was a whiff of desperation when former alternative-rock heavyweights Live showed up to perform their new single "Mystery" with ousted contestant Chris Daughtry, who could have passed for the twin of the band's shaved-headed singer, Ed Kowalczyk."

This isn't from the AI boards, but...

A guy over at the Epinions Music Source said that Ed is what "Chris would look like if he was gay".

OK....... I've been lurking on this board for ummmmmmm years. A long damn time guys. I joined a long time ago too, but never posted. I can't even remember what name I used. Soooo I've re-registered just to say this. For those that think that Chris fans are just a bunch of screaming girls, you are WRONG. Most of the Chris fans I've come across are in their 30s and some ranging into the 50s. Yes, there's some teenage girls... but that's not the majority. I'm a moderator at the Absent Element forums (That band in NC that most of us hope will be signed somewhere with Chris), and can tell you right now that most of Chris's fans are either reading and posting there, or have moved on to his other fan sites. So, what you're reading on the AI boards is not representative of how most of us feel.

LIVE ROCKS! Period. If I were on a deserted island and had to pick a few CDs to sustain me musically, Throwing Copper would be a necessity. Ed was amazing tonight, and no I don't think he tried to upstage Chris. I think they could have turned Chris's mic up a tad though... but that's typical AI for ya. I loved Chris looking over at Ed and that little smile like "OMG I'm singing with Live". I loved Ed looking over at Chris with obvious respect. I actually said once that I prefer Chris's voice to Ed's... and I did on Walk the Line to be honest. Tonight they were equally and seperately enjoyable. I love Chris for what he does, and Ed for what he does, and I'm sooooo grateful to have seen them together. Knowing how much that meant for Chris and how much exposure that meant for LIVE literally brought tears to my eyes.

Who cares who the applause was for? They were clapping for the man who should have won it all this year.... who obviously has the most talent, and HIS Idol on the stage together giving a truly amazing performance.

As for the name of the song, CD, etc. The great thing about all the teenyboppers left over on that board is that they're all real familiar with google. LOL Hang in there guys, I have a feeling your board's gonna get crowded..... try to take it with a grain of salt and just enjoy the exposure. As long as they're buying CDs, there's no such thing as a bad fan.

If any of you want to check out Chris's stuff...... you're all welcome to swing by. www.absentelement.com

ROCK ON!!!
Jen

Just wanted to say that a lot of you are pointing out the negative things said at the Idol forums about Ed, the performance, etc. Granted, much of it is because you think what they have said is totally ridiculous, therefore humorous.

However, how about maybe focusing more on the positive things said at that forum and elsewhere? If you read through a lot of the different threads, you'll find that there are as many, if not more, positive things said which overshadow the negatives. Just check out this one thread and it is indicative of the many posts you will find in the various threads in between the negatives. Yes, there are some uninformed, sometimes biased, sometimes ridiculous posts, but there are also plenty of very upbeat/positive statements. I've seen many post about the new song and how they've gone over and downloaded it at ITunes, etc.

Also, bear in mind that while it seems your main posters here are educated and more mature forum users, the average user at the AI forums are younger teens who haven't been exposed to the likes of Live. The viewership of the show, however, covers a very broad range of ages and I've read that it has a very heavy proportion of the 30+ crowd which watches the show, but never posts or talks about their viewership.

While this thread is short, it has a lot of well thought out and constructive comments:

Hahaha...... that'd be me on the bottom of it. I'm Angelwithattitud there when I'm not banned for my opinions. I can claim about 1/2 those posters as Absent Element members too. Thank you Livefan1999. Please ignore the negative and accept the positive. Those that are bashing or speaking negatively truly know not of what they speak. Those of us old enough to have bought Throwing Copper the day it came out will attempt to educate the masses, but honestly there's no controlling the mayhem on an AI board. *sigh*

Hey....honestly, I don't think Live fans should worry one bit about a review like this. If you follow American Idol at all, you will find that the critics/reviewers have an opinion somewhat like I've read from many of you here. They think that American Idol is a joke and any time a celebrity comes on, they have painted in their reviews a picture of "have-been" performers. They said that of Elton John, Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart and many others who have been on the show. Yet in all of these cases, their sales went up big time as a result of being on the show.

In a way, I equate reviews like this one on AI's finale to what many film critics give out. If they think the movie stinks, watch the sales, they'll be great. If they think the film is fantastic, it's usually too far over the average movie-goer's head or too artsy for the average guy's taste, so the ticket sales stink.

I still think it was a smart move for Live to go on the show and I totally enjoyed the performance.

Most of the professional reviews are pretty positive towards LIVE. Most saying (except two of like dozens) that Ed blew Chris out of the water. Google News search Ed Kowalczyk and see. Pretty good stuff.
