I just spotted this on Twitter. I don't know what it sounds like (I don't have audio access on my work PC) so hopefully it's not terrible...

Anyway, here are the links:

Just another remix of the mastered song.

More of the hindu sound over LC more into the background.

meh.....not my cup of basamati rice.

Meh... you can't even tell what song it is until 2:20 into it when the guitar finally kicks in. And it never gets to the meatier part of the song, which is the big payoff of LC. That alone is a major flaw with this.

I liked the idea behind what they were trying to do with it, but they made it too much about the "remix" instead of integrating it into the song and turning it into something unique but true to the original. Sippin' On Lakini's Juice is a good example of a good remix (imo).

I'm not a huge fan of remixes in general to begin with so I might not be the best judge, but this could've been a lot better.

I listened to the entire thing and believe, like you guys, that this isn't good.

1) The intro was about twice as long as it should have been.

2) The bass bumps were more annoying than helpful.

3) Mix around the track some more, don't just lay the audio over it straight. Lame.

I'm still pleased though that in 2012 people are remixing this song though. It is not good enough for me to take the time to download.

As a rule, all remixes are shit.

There are numerous exclusions to this rule, kid. Enjoy The Silence by Shinoda is only 1 example.

my thoughts too.

just overlapping and looping parts of a song over some techno stuff (2min later mind you) seems cheap. and it doesn't get to the big payoff at the end like PoD said.

For others there might be exceptions. For me, nah. I don't think I've ever liked a remix ever.

I think we should make this thread about convincing Merica that good remixes exist out there.

off the top of my head, this is one of my favorite remixes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ET5bDdvZMR8

of course, you have to like sarah mclachlan, in the first place. but this is the first song on my workout mix on my ipod. it's actually a pretty simple remix, compared to other things Tiesto has done, but I think it's pretty enjoyable.
I'm sure Merica will disagree... I will try harder tongue.gif
