I feel (and hope) it will be an album full of songs similar to Tredecim.

the 2 demo tracks i had the ultimate privledge to hear are in that vein!!

Is it strange that I'm glad this assessment of the new tunes came from OTD and not one of the band members. We've been burned so many times with the it sounds like this and that...

why strange Possum? I think we've mostly heard those phrases from Ed in the past. When the collaboration was not happening. Things are under wraps as to what else is there. Hope we get a sampling soon after next week or so.

Please tell us a bit more !
Did you hear full-band demos or only instrumentals ?
What were the lyrics about ?
Which SS songs did the new tracks remind to you ?

I only heard them once. (i don't have any copies) 3 songs, one could be a TGF, as it didn't have lyrics. The other 2 were full band demos. I'd have had to hear the songs more to be able to know what they're about.

Graze & LJ came to mind.

QUOTE(dancing queen @ Jul 5 2012, 2:36 pm) *

I'm on a megabus from Philly to Boston for $5 (whoop whoop) and I almost missed the bus because my friend, who I love but is never (never!) reliable was late taking me to the train so I could train in to Philly so I missed the train and drove her minivan literally 95 mph down the turnpike to 30th st station w 3 minutes to spare to get on the bus. and I have Pms. so I'm furious. at her for being unreliable. at me for not knowing better.

know what I did? secret samadhi on my ipod.

It really does soothe the savage beast...co workers, customers, and the world were pissing me off all day, popped in SS; instantly better. And I made it through too, without anyone ending up dead.
One could say SS saves lives.

Don't tease. LJ is a wildly unique song. One of the most unique songs Live ever did. You talking musically it sounds like LJ or are you saying that it's very unique like LJ? Either way it's good... I just want to know what to anticipate.

Not teasing, but they have their own uniqueness. Anticipate anyway you like. Things could be entirely different but it will be hard!!

I know it will be good because it is being driven by CCP and they have a reliable (dare I say impecable) track record. I am confident that it will sound like the product of a BAND and it will have creative energy.

I am just thinking about how great it will sound to hear an album where Chad Gracey was given a voice in the process and Patrick was free to go where he wanted creatively and Chad Taylor had the opportunity to explore where his guitar took him. Then they collaborate with Chris Shinn.

That last part is the only unknown variable as far as I am concerned. I wasn't a big fan of Unified Theory or his self-titled album. He doesn't have the rock pedigree that CCP has. We don't know what the chemistry will sound like when the four of them collaborate together. I sure liked what I saw and heard at the rehearsal show. I defintely has the chops to re-record older Live material.

The anticipation is killing me.

Man I'm dying for just one (at least) kick ass tune that is exclusively CCPC's. Then, and only then can I shut the door on Ed's LIVE. No more Ed/Chris comparisons, no more tedious "discussions", no more fan divisions, no what-ifs, what could have beens. I'll have some sense of closure and I can the wish Ed the best on his endeavors. It will only take that one tune for me. I believe it really is that simple. Sure, i can pop in that "old" LIVE, get that old feeling but I'm not looking back. Hopefully, the band won't either. What do you all think?

SS soothes you? SS makes me want to break shit. Regardless, your customers, co-workers had no idea how close they were to unleasing the wrath of Ochick. I love it. Keep that powder dry.
