Those videos are awful. Ed is butchering his own material. Terrible.

Wow, that is pretty exciting information.

Anyone that would knowingly go to one of Ed's "rawk" shows after seeing those videos has got to admit they don't give a damn what it sounds like.

Exactly. The only people going to Ed shows these days are the people who could not care less about how it sounds. They just want to see his idol that can do no wrong in their eyes. This is mostly 40-55 year old admirers and Nick.

I guess one could hold out hope that the acoustic shows would go well but after seeing those videos I'd be a little skeptical. Yikes. uhoh.gif

Yeah, the reviews aren't good. My interest in seeing Ed on stage waned after seeing him strip his shirt off at every show during LJ. facepalm.gif Embarassed to be there honestly.

Okay I have waited awhile to chime in on this topic. I live only about 45 minutes from this venue and I didn't go #1 because it was basically an outdoor show and was hotter than the face of the sun, #2 I had backstage passes and I am sure that I would've been asked to leave smile.gif, #3 EK has simply lost me with this farce of a full-band performance. I will agree with Nick on this point, EK's solo work in an acoustic setting is good, that is the setting that he should remain in for him not to embarrass himself. I talked to a friend at the show who wo rks for one of the main sponsors for this concert series and he said that he felt embarrassment for EK. The estimated crowd for the show was about a 1/3 of what was there the week before for the band Tonic and about 1/2 of what was there for the week before for Los Lonely Boys. EK was supposed to be the big act to put an exclamation point on this series and according to at least this guy who represents a major donor it was a disappointment. The show on $5 to get into and actually that was just a cover for the multi-bar complex that is there, the show was essentially free. All I can say is sad, simply sad.

I am pretty sure 100+ degree outside temps didn't help the attendance for an outdoor show. He did pull a pretty good crowd size overall considering the massive temp, and there were plenty of positive reviews for the show for those who attended.

I didn't attend the Long Island show because of the overall craziness of driving to the Hamptons on a holiday weekend.

This will start to resonate with Ed the business man. As this happens more and more, and gets worse and worse as Ed gets farther removed from Live, his asking price will be driven lower and lower. Eventually his bank account will really feel it. And then he will try to pretend to be whatever he has to be to get back with Live. And I hope that they leave him out in the cold. I hope CCP + C become commercially successful. And I hope the new Live album gets critical acclaim and the music industry says "Live is back!". Can you imagine the impact that would have on Ed's huge ego? Live is back - and it would be without Ed. And Ed will be playing the PTA fundraiser in Ojai. Oh the poetic justice.

I guess most of the concert goers in NC wait until the can zero in on an accurate 10 day forecast before deciding to buy tickets to the concert.

I just checked the high temps for the shows you mentioned:
http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/charlotte...-weather/349818

Los Lonely Boys- 83 degrees

Tonic- 94 degrees

Ed Kowalczyk- 104 degrees

When Ed played the Factory last year, he drew the biggest crowd of the festival and sold out. This year he was stuck with 104 degree record high temperature and still drew a nice sized crowd to the venue. What did your friend expect with a massive heat wave and dangerous show conditions?

Or maybe everyone was out celebrating the Supreme Court opinion on the Affordable Care Act Friday night. Yeah that's the ticket!

I was at a Phillies game last Thursday and it was an afternoon game on a week day and it was well over 100 degrees and somehow they managed a sell out crowd of over 45,000. I guess basebal fans are tougher than Ed fans.

The majority of fans for those shows by tickets day of the show. The fact that you can even try to argue that a record 104 temperature would affect show attendance boggles my mind.
