When did you meet all those wrestlers? I've met Hogan at a book signing. He was busy and intimidating(he's my childhood idol) but was cool just the same. Bobby Heenan and Jimmy Hart were very nice. Virgil threatened to stick his pen in my eye smile.gif

Not quite sure how I stumbled on this thread...but my brother wrestles. He goes by Brian Anthony...wrestles in mostly independent feds in the Northeast. He recently got in the ring with Ric Flair. He said they hung out afterwards and he was the nicest guy...he also has been working with Jimmy Hart and has a match with Jerry Lawler coming up...I just thought I'd share if there were still any wrestling fans floating around here.

Funny, I love that I'm on a LIVE site and we can talk about wrestling! I Have had the chance to meet Ric Flair once and he was very nice and answered all my Fan boy questions.

As for the part about Ed being a Jerk I have met him twice and he was very nice and talkative both times. He took time to answer all my questions, sign a bunch of my stuff and posed for pictures. The entire band I met once and they were awesome signed some stuff talked a lot and joked around. It is really cool when you meet your heroes and they aren't stuck up and rude.

The last time I spoke to Ed was at the solo show in Hollywood at the Hotel Cafe. My wife and I invited some friends of ours to go. They knew a few LIVE songs and really enjoyed the show but after the show they told us what they really enjoyed his music but what made them instant fans, was the way Ed interacted with his fans during and after the show.

thought I share!

Have a nice weekend people

LC

Can't answer the main question as I've not met LiVE.

I've met many many other "famous" people over the years, tho.

Nicest & Most Down-To-Earth: Rob Thomas

Strangest & Most Fascinating: Anne Rice

Funniest As Themselves: Steve Martin or Paul Doucette

Biggest Assh*le(s): ALL the f*ckers from Fountains Of Wayne

Quietest: The Edge

Most Fun To Party With: Cheap Trick

Horniest: Billy Squier

Most Boring: Robert Smith (The Cure)

Most Surprisingly "Real": Moon Zappa

And so on...

From my experiences meeting him, these questions would be ignored because you don't have boobs.

I've had a chance to meet Ed twice. Once before a show when he was walking through the crowd and last year when I got backstage passes. Both times he seemed really cool and took time to talk to people that wanted to speak with him. His brother was actually really nice and cool too.

I've had the chance to meet the guys a 4 times.

The first time, Ed and the whole band stuck around for quite awhile.
The Second time, the whole band bailed really fast as they wanted to catch a flight to go home
The Third time everyone but Ed came out to meet, but they again were in a hurry
The Fourth time the whole band came out and stuck around for about 20 minutes, I talked to Ed for about 10 minutes myself, mostly about the Paradiso DVD rumors and new music on it.

One thing that sticks out in my head, is that on my 3rd time meeting the band, where ED didnt come out. When my wife and I were leaving the venue, he saw us in the tour bus and literally sat at the window waving at us for at least 2 minutes as we walked from one side of it to the other to cross the street. It was a rather long wave, more similar to that of someone on a float in a parade. Maybe he saw me carrying a poster that I intended to have the whole band sign, and realized my poster was incomplete. LOL!!

I'll agree with Adam, both times I've met him he was super cool .. actually likewise with the rest of the band really, Pat doesn't spend much time there but he's always smiling, I got one of the best photos with him .. Gracey wanders around and seems to only be recognised by a handfull of people. I didn't get the impression that Ed was a jerk, he signed something for me and posed for a photo but it was obvious both times he only had one thing on his mind .. or at least 2 things, of which I had none of.

Anyway, name me one big name lead of a rock band that doesn't have attitude?

When I met Micheal Stipe, he was awesome. And he never really seems to have much of an attitude on TV either. Of course, that could just be a reflection on his sexuality. There I said it nervous.gif

haha doesn't surprise me with Robert Smith and it would be awesome to meet Moon Zappa just to be able to say that name in every day conversation.

Coolest musical celebrity I've met was Gene Ween, just wondering down the street a few hours before the gig on the way to the pub and I saw him standing there taking photos around Melbourne so I approached him and asked for a quick photo .. he was cool and we talked for about 10 mins about the gig the night before and how the tour had been so far .. he even went on a bit of a rant about how he was pissed off he had to cancel the last Australian tour because of going into rehab so that's why he was making sure the band gave it their absolute all this time to make up for it .. it's really endearing when you meet an idol and come away with a really positive experience.

On the other hand I imagine meeting an idol and them being an asshole would be devestating.

I've met a lot of celebrities over the last 5 years at various meet and greets and what not. Ed to me was the least cordial and by far the most disappointing.

Thats all I have to say....

IPB Image When did your opinion change, SJN?

Oh my gosh, what a trip down memory lane, with all these old usernames and comments! I love it. How do people dig these up? Can we get whole bunch of old thread revived? It's fun.

Not to speak for Nick, but my recollectoin is that Nick developed a more favorable opinion of Ed around Birds of Pray or Radiant Sea, and then turned hard in favor of Ed and against CCP as recently as the Spring of 2009 when the band was playing its final shows. By the time Chad Taylor criticized Ed on social media and announced Kevin Martin as the lead singer of TGF, Nick became a hard core biased propaganda machine.

I wish that somebody could get Jimmy Lang to find the old thread on the SOY board where Nick trashed Ed after meeting him the first time. That would be a good time capsule.
