Why some of you are keeping up with the thought someone could EVER get back to the form they were once at.

It's impossible.

You either do not loose it or never get back.

100% agree. Ed will never be the same Ed.

I don't think anyone expects that, really.

Don't get me wrong - it's not my cup of tea either - but like I said, it's one opinion and my choice not to get involved in an 'iwilldisseverythingEKdoesgoodorbadcosimstillsoreabouthimandLIVE' sorta battle.

But, I understand where the agro comes from.

Some folks did not like 'Ain't No Use' by CT's Georgie Case and TGF. Some people really honestly loved 'Alive'. I didn't. I still don't and probably will never. But, I'll still give Ed's material a shot and I'll go to his show if he tours here (probably).

All I'm saying is, I hope this EP is good or whatever else he has planned. Whether I'm gonna hold my breath to it, is entirely another story - but I hope it's good. Hope.

I hear what you are saying. I think for many here the dislike of Ed's music comes mostly from the comparison of what he used to sound like and what he sounds like now.

Hell, if I never heard Live and picked up Alive I'd probably say "That isn't great, it isn't terrible." and move on.

But knowing what he started as puts a whole new light on it.

It'd be like seeing Jordan play for the Wizards. He was pretty good and had moments of being really good. He averaged 20 something points and would score 35 here and there. The Wizards were an average team.

But put that to him averging 30+ for the Bulls and scoring 50-60 against the Pistons or Celtics in the playoffs and winning 6 titles and seeing the Bulls go 72-10 and set a record for most wins an in NBA season and you realize that Wizards Jordan sucked by comparison.

Well it wasn't meant to be insulting, so I guess you're reading it wrong, or just taking offense where it isn't meant to be hehe.gif
Obviously as an atheist I believe that if you believe any creation story in the bible is true, then you're wrong. But at this stage we shouldn't have to spell out every little detail about who we are addressing and how and why, I'm obviously talking about religious fanatics who disregard anything science has taught us when it contradicts something in the bible. And I've met a few of them and know that they exist, so it doesn't mean every single religious person, I'm sorry if you took it that way. Next time I'll add disclaimers tongue.gif

But the point still stands, I think they're one in the same, it seems that people who fanatically support Ed do so so blindly that they disregard any logical piece of evidence thrown at them, preferring to rest upon statements like "yeah but you don't know that!" or "there's 2 sides to every coin!" like somehow that changes everything.

Actually I'm not a religious person in the usual sense of the word, so I wasn't at all offended.
And since I don't wanna go all off topic,we'll leave it at that. tongue.gif

As long as Ed is in his state of contentment I wouldn't expect much in the way of compelling music.

Even if his new songs kick ass (funny I know) I still know the type of person he has become. I struggle even listening to early Live knowing what I know now. Damn shame!

That is actually I hardly listen to any of the Live albums lately. Too hard. I hear ya.

A couple of says ago we decided to spin WFG.

Looked at each other with my wife. Then I said: "Now THAT is what the fucking Kowalczyk shall be!"

She smiled and said again: "Fuck Kowalczyk" So we played TGF.

I can still listen to the old Live stuff because I know that is not THIS Ed Kowalczyk, the one that crooned out Ghost and rocked out Stage is still being digested in a wolf somewhere. I don't feel bad listening to them because I know back then what he sang he believed and that Ed Kowalczyk would have kicked the crap out of Eddie K.

Yea, maybe busting out Stage will release the demons and I'll be able to enjoy Live again. CT actually said some nice stuff about Ed, forgiveness and etc on his Facebook page today. They are moving forward and not harping on the past. No idea if Ed feels the same way, but maybe the guys are closing that chapter in their life.

It's interesting that members (at least one) of Live, the people most directly affected by whatever Ed may or may not have done, can let go of the past and move on, yet so many here can't seem to do the same.
Eh, maybe it's only interesting to me.

I guess we never know how truly they let go, I mean apparently there is still a court case going on an such so I wouldn't take it as 100% over it and moving on. I think most of us here have moved on, most of us don't want Ed back, the current Ed, disliking what he's doing now I don't think has much to do with moving on since it's a current topic/issue.

You're getting to wrapped up beyond the music - attached to people and things that we will never know and never be a part of. You're letting it alter how you hear the music.

I'm done caring if Ed was eaten by a wolf, or if he is on a mission to find God, or if he's just crazy - because it doesn't matter in my life.

I don't care if Ed is a horse fucker or if Chad likes eating shit. What I have is music for my ears. They'll be the judge. I'm done trying to bring anything else into it.

As the music goes I don't like the sample that I heard, but I don't like all of Alive either. If anything enjoyable comes out of this small 5 song EP I'll consider it a success and look forward to the next release by Live, TGF, or Ed.
