I'm not nearly close to suggesting Ed would ever return to the Ed of old, which the majority of us posting here would say is Pre-2000, but I hope he redeems some of his cred in 'LIVE-land'. If not for anything, for what the good things he brought to LIVE and our lives for so long.

Songs are not even out yet and judgement is being laid down on the guy! It's like Nick in reverse.

Realistically, has EK done anything to prove us wrong in the last 5+ years?

QUOTE(Opinechik @ Jun 19 2012, 3:50 am) *

Am I just reading this wrong or is it really as condescending and insulting to religious folks as it sounds?

Well it wasn't meant to be insulting, so I guess you're reading it wrong, or just taking offense where it isn't meant to be hehe.gif
Obviously as an atheist I believe that if you believe any creation story in the bible is true, then you're wrong. But at this stage we shouldn't have to spell out every little detail about who we are addressing and how and why, I'm obviously talking about religious fanatics who disregard anything science has taught us when it contradicts something in the bible. And I've met a few of them and know that they exist, so it doesn't mean every single religious person, I'm sorry if you took it that way. Next time I'll add disclaimers tongue.gif

But the point still stands, I think they're one in the same, it seems that people who fanatically support Ed do so so blindly that they disregard any logical piece of evidence thrown at them, preferring to rest upon statements like "yeah but you don't know that!" or "there's 2 sides to every coin!" like somehow that changes everything.

I see what you did there...

Normally I refrain from this type of bashing but since Nick does it on a daily basis I thought once or twice a year I was allowed..... lol.gif happy.gif

No. But to rattle off on something before it's actually even been released isn't entirely fair.

I'm not saying I haven't been guilty of such behavior myself. How long will we keep this up? Bitter bitching to the very end.

Doesn't change things one way or the other. Instead of being able to enjoy the good music we get from either party, we're using it as a stick to beat the other.

Just an opinion anyway.

"Look where all this talking got us baby"

I thought this thread was about Ed's new EP. Let's focus on that and let the music speak for itself.

That's true, since our friend Nick is not posting here anymore.
Really wondering where he is, maybe he's still pissed of about KM's post?

We heard that snippet of whatever his Proof song is called. It sounded just like Alive.

So we know that at least 1 of the 5 songs will suck.

EDIT: And if that song isn't on the EP then it at least indicates what types of songs Ed is still writing.

So, I have zero hope for Ed returning to his pre-2000 form.

Don't get me wrong - it's not my cup of tea either - but like I said, it's one opinion and my choice not to get involved in an 'iwilldisseverythingEKdoesgoodorbadcosimstillsoreabouthimandLIVE' sorta battle.

But, I understand where the agro comes from.

Some folks did not like 'Ain't No Use' by CT's Georgie Case and TGF. Some people really honestly loved 'Alive'. I didn't. I still don't and probably will never. But, I'll still give Ed's material a shot and I'll go to his show if he tours here (probably).

All I'm saying is, I hope this EP is good or whatever else he has planned. Whether I'm gonna hold my breath to it, is entirely another story - but I hope it's good. Hope.
