An opening song is really important at a show. Sets the tone and energy. LIVE has always had great songs to open its shows with. The last 5 years before the break up it was always the same except after the Paradiso DVD it was Simple Creed and Purifier. (based on the shows I had seen).

My favorites are TDAOC and Where the fishes go. During the Distance to Here tour I saw them at the Mayan in Downtown Los Angeles. They opened up with WTFG and it was the best opening of the 17 shows I had ever seen. I still remeber it (kind of) The Band came out 1st. Ed started singing behind the curtain he walked out with a Kane and sunglasses and I believe a top like hat (im not 100% on the hat) he slowly walked across the stage like a pimp singing about his Ho's . It was cool! totally different from Secret Samadhi Tour and any other tour. He had this big rockstar thing going on. Maybe it was cause it was L.A.? I remember it was after Fight Club was released. Maybe the Hollywood thing had some influence on him. Who knows! At that point with the string of hits they had he was on his way to becoming one. (Then we all know what happened) The whole opening with WTFG was just awesome!

I guess what i'm asking is what was the best song in your opinion you ever seen LIVE open up with. If this topic was already done sorry I never read it. So please humor me!

As I wrote this I was listening to Dance with PinkPop Bootleg!

Forgot that one. Would love to hear a live high quality version with Shinn of that song.

Waterboy or TDAOC. I know I'll get trashed for this one because there's so much contempt for the disc, but I had no problem w/ Like I Do opening the BOP tour. Like I Do followed by Lighthouse was a really good 1-2 punch to get you into the flow.

I can hands down, 100%, unequivocally tell you the worst song I ever saw them open with...get your airline vomit bags ready...OK, I warned you...this is your last chance to not read this catastrophe....

...they opened w/ Mystery when I saw them in Nov 2006. Yeah, just another sign that it was over and done. My buddy that was with me hadn't seen them since Throwing Copper Tour (kids will do that people) and was equally horrified and completely confused at what he was seeing at that moment. This wasn't in the vein of Shit Towne as he had last seen, just pure Shit.

OTD, great blurb under your pic buddy!

Ah yes Donno, LID was also a great opener. That poor song got nixed like the rest of the few ccp rockers in the 2000s..........amazing that ed took that song from tla's south beach studio and right to Miami zeda radio to tout as next single.......what did we get.........yawn.

Oh yeah, I'll never forget that bait and switch job of Ed presenting Like I Do to us, and than the singles that we're released made me want to "Run Away". I remember listening over and over to that little snippet of Like I Do and the anticipation it gave me of a possible return to the edgier sound I loved. And than like you said...yawn. At least the BOP tour saw them ditch the keyboards and get back to rocking. But only to be castrated by it's follow up.

That clip is linked here somewhere. I posted it in a discussion about like I do.

Also shows what rocker Live music would have been supported by fringe or non fans....but we got the run away and hide songs that Ed forced. Wish they ended the band then or kicked out egomaniac then. No matter, we'll get what we want soon.

Donno my friend that tagline was given to OTD as gift from someone you may know smile.gif I remember when I got BOP I was excited after hearing songs like Lighthouse and Like I Do. It was so obvious that these songs were impacted by CT, but as the story goes it was all for not as the EK took the reins.

Like I Do was a good opener! That def should have been the next single after Heaven. I think Run Away would have done better as the 3rd single. Heaven got some air play if I remember correctly. Heaven was real catchy. If LID had been released after Heaven I think the album would have sold a lot better.
