Hate to be the one to bring it up but it has been over two months since CT posted this on the new website:

Fellow Freaks,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the response we've been receiving since Monday's VIP dress rehearsal. It is infinitely rewarding to again be able to perform these songs with the passion we all know they deserve. I'd love to write more, but we're in Austin, TX for SXSW. We'll speak soon...

CT

Pretty much any and all momentum from the launch of the website and from their dress rehearsal has slowly gone away.

I don't know. Maybe they just don't really care that much (about building and maintaining momentum/buzz) and are going to get to it when they get to it.

It's whatever. The speculation is fun but I don't think anything is going to change.

case in point: the John Butler Trio has 5 amazing studio albums. I know one other American who knows who they are. sure, they're Australian so how would we know them... but if they had been around 10 years earlier, when there was room in the industry for things to just happen... people would know about them.

we all know amazing bands who no one knows. and unless it's country or catchy pop, it's even harder to get songs on the radio. (who here keeps mentioning that... I've noticed it more and more, it's awful - damn clear channel).

Add one more American to your list. His new album Tin Shed Tales is pretty sweet. More people should know about John Butler and Xavier Rudd.

would be a great way to reinvigorate fans with a classic sounding Live song with their new singer. Those who haven't heard it would only know it as being sung by CS. But perhaps it is just best to leave it. It's a shame though, it is a radio ready material and is as good as something like All Over You in my opinion.

I don't feel that way. I would not feel reinvigorated by a band releasing a 15 year old song. What would is... I don't know? A brand new kickass song with a classic sounding vibe (but not a copy) that will grab people by the balls.

Part of me feeling this way is the fact that I don't understand why so many of you are putting this song on such a high pedestal for so long. Let it go. It's like people are not confident in them making a brand new amazing tune so they keep bringing this one up. It's not that great anyways. (IMO of course) At least not better than what I think the boys can yet cook up. Leave it in the 90s.

Totally with you on this. The one thing we know from all the silence is that these guys aren't in it for the money. If they were, they'd be out touring already. Good to know they are set!

I imagine they'll be much more into it once the new music appears.

Seems like they're damned if they do and damned if they don't ... if they hadn't launched the website yet, released the re-records or done the 2 dress rehearsal shows you'd have half the board crying for blood because we've seen NOTHING yet. So they do those things, and people are still saying how long they have to wait.

Yeah the momentum is gone, but there was also no momentum right before all those things happened and then it was suddenly there, so what makes you think that when things are ready to kick into gear again that momentum won't come storming back again?

Funky is right, it shows they're not in it for the money, they're taking their time and they're being measured about it, personally I got so many other things going on in my life and other things to look forward to, I can't really imagine spending time and energy on getting frustrated over this ... we know it will happen, so it'll happen when it happens, and when it does all of this frustration will be a distant memory just like it was the day we were all on the edge of our seats as Dancing Queen tweeted us the live setlist from the York show.

Seemed to work for Van Halen just fine. Most people didn't even realize that half their new songs were 35 years old. Hold Me Up was already one one the most prized unreleased Live songs well before Zack and Miri. Saw them play it in 09 and it was one of the highlights of the show. Gracey was an absolute beast and CT's solo was awesome. The hype is well deserved.

I want whatever they want. I want great music.
but like the spoiled child I am, I want it NOW!
yesterday.

I want to be tweeting setlists. NOW.

I am so glad they're not in it for the money. I'm so glad they're not making shit music in a hurry just to collect the check.

I'm just dying for a clip, a snippet... something...

I'm not saying they shouldn't do anything with it if the fans want it. Sure re-record it and all but don't make an old tune your first release as a new beginning of the band with a new singer.

My post wasn't meant to sound like complaining. More of a "is what it is" type of thing. I'm over it. I'll check back now and then but I am sort of done spending time with this stuff.

Oh I didn't mean your post in particular, just the community as a whole I guess. I think we all want something NOW, but I don't think it's disastrous or hurting them in any way to not be putting things out now.

I am glad that it appears that all of this is on their terms, but unfortunately it stinks of all of the same stuff that we've dealt with in the past. High expectations only to wait and wait. Whatever happened to the professional recording of the Strand show? Maybe they decided to keep it to themselves? A lot of it is my fault as well. I check on here daily to see if there are any updates, tweets, FB updates only to see what we already know. I shall temper my expectations, but unlike Pokey, my life is pretty dull right now so I need Live to fill that empty void immediately. I am kidding of course, but for now I will bide my time listening to Unified Theory, re-recorded Live tracks and tweets of cats.

No need for Live to piggy back off Ed's show in York. I'm sure when they are good and ready they will do what they gotta do. Karma will deal with Ed all by itself...

I hear you. I merely brought it up as part of the discussion of what they can do to get some traction. Somehow I've been branded as someone that thinks it's pure gold. Far from it. But if it's traction you want, then releasing anything from the TC era or anything that sounds like it is a good bet. I'm not even saying that's what I want. Many seem to want Live to make some sort of grand reappearance on the musical landscape. If not for TC Live might not have had such a career to begin with. MJ did modestly and if it had been followed with anything other than TC from their catalog we may not even be talking about them now. Let's face it, not all of their music is radio friendly or for a large audience. Everyone's got a favorite band that just never got the notoriety they should have. Live might be in that same boat if not for TC. I think some people need to remember what made them popular and if that's what they want, then that is the type of thing Live should do. Just like Van Halen did.

Oh don't mistake having things to do and occupy my time for not being dull, life by most standards for me right now is pretty damn dull tongue.gif
But there is just a hell of a lot of other exciting things in music going on now too which helps divert attention.

I think that is another good strategy. Wheter you call it a gimick or and angle or whatever. You just described a great one.

It would be amazing if they release a new album like Van Halen did, with Cheetah, Vine Street, Susquehanah, Hold Me Up and any other demos that I have forgotten from the Throwing Copper era, along with a bunch of new songs. Then they try to get as much press as they can that "Live has re-launched with a new lead singer and a new energy, and they are releasing an album on which they have re-recorded a number of previously unreleased gems from the Throwing Copper era as well as some amazing new tracks..." Go on Howard Stern and rock radio and see if they can get into Rolling Stone. Bang! Done. Just like that.

And start blogging on the website. Get some web traffic going there. Post videos from the studio. Do something unique and unexpected. And get some momentum giong and don't lose it.
