Ever thought that Kowalczyk has a pile of specialists working for him, Fish?

That's the point - depending on what Live themselves, of course, want to do. It seems to be 1 step forward and 2 back. They get us all hyped up over a comeback, a new singer, a new song, new recordings, a couple of gigs that raise the roof........and then what? Nothing. Kinda frustrating that nothing ever seems to be followed through with shrug.gif

Is it because they don't want to get out there and play, they are just doing it for a hobby and will play a gig or two when the planets align and they can all fit in with each others' schedules or perhaps they do want a successful comeback but just don't know how to set the wheels in motion to achieve it? If that's that's the case then sounds like they need to bring in the specialists.

Australia already has their own with the the Working Class title!

I've got an idea that sort of ties all this discussion together.

Live spends a little time researching and finding some local bands that have a strong following in their region. Let's say they find 4 or so for each "region" (region could mean a lot of things in this instance).

They make contact with them and put together a series of shows in that region. Casinos would be great for this because they do a ton of back to back concerts and pay well (at least in Oklahoma...just saw that LL Cool J is coming for back to back nights at one of the casinos here). So one night they play with bands A and B. Next night C and D. That is 4 fanbases they are exposed to in just two days plus the relationships they build could be beneficial if one of the bands ever hits the big time.

They label it the Working Class Tour, or something like that, and hit different regions playing with a handful of popular bands of those regions.

Let's say they do 8 regions with 4 well know local bands at each one. That is 32 fanbases in a short period of time.

So, for example, in the hypothetical Oklahoma/Texas Region if they could get Hinder and All American Rejects (both from Oklahoma) for one night I can tell you right now it would be packed. Add in the Toadies (Texas I believe) and Flyleaf. Could be a great show.

And just to add, it may be easier to do this by state instead of a region. Of course this could possibly eliminate smaller market states like Oklahoma but Live and two great bands in Texas is not a bad drive for me.

Sorry for the rambling. Thoughts?

Thoughts?

Thats a cool idea, I think they did that with the TGF tour. I don't think that's what they're going to do though.

one great single is enough to make any band popular regardless of age. Release hold me up unless they have something better.

I wish CT would start doing video updates and "self interviews" like Van Halen has been doing since their album was announced. This just can out over the last day and I think this kind of thing is easy and effective:

PR Update

That'd be sweet, sort of like the TGF episodes while they were making the album

Slash is playing at Rocklahoma this weekend and was on a radio interview with one of the better rock stations here and it was really interesting. I will see if I can find the interview but one thing the host asked was about why bands don't do the random teaming up anymore whether it be for a show or for an album or just one song.

Slash pretty much said the industry is so rigid and focused on money it is really hard to pull that off anymore.

He also said people used to be able to really play and play each others music where now a lot of people are just faking it.

The "faking it" bit is 100 percent true. There are some bands that people like on this very board who are do that exact thing. sad.gif

One recent one I saw was Fuel.

Fuel towards the end of their original line-up was definitely a farce. Brett could not sing anymore and they definitely used a lot of help during their shows. Early on though I would have to disagree. Although you are still probably bitter with me for my opinion of Led Zeppelin.

Early on Fuel was pretty good yeah!

I don't remember your opinion on Zeppelin, so consider yourself spared (also don't remind me).
