OTD, I have a feeling there will be a lot of that reaction by people who think they are going to see LIVE. I think most of the world doesn't know Ed's a Christian and his music is obviously such. I'm glad that reviewer still had fun, though. It's always a shame when someone has no fun at a show.
I didn't realize he was singing Hallelujah??
the Leonard Cohen song?? I love that song, and if Ed uses his big boy voice, he would do an amazing job. but I had never even imagined him singing it.

I reread - he must've played Hallelujah as an exit song.
got it.

he played Ave Maria as the intro music when I saw him in Bethelehem last year, in September, I think.

That's a good assessment, I can't argue what you're saying....but those whio are finding out that Ed's gone the guise of Christian music might be turned off....hope they'll check out Live with CS.

I know Hallelujah is a Leonard Cohen song but everyone will always be judged against Jeff Buckley's version. Everyone and their brother would love to channel their inner JB, most pale in comparison. I'm sure EK's version is no different. Best to just leave it be at this point. When you've got American Idol contestants trying to do it, it's a little played out. Kind of like everyone pretending they're Adele. Just leave it alone.

Yeah trying to cover the song in a JB style is not going to work for most singers, definitely not for Ed. As DQ says, needs to use the Big Boy voice. There's moments when Chris Shinn actually sounds Buckley-esque, but he hasn't got the range, hell not a lot to. Not surprisingly I think his Dad, Tim Buckley would have absolutely nailed it though.

That venue held about 15k, but it's was more of a crowd for Vertical Horizon:

I love the last comment.....these fans think they are seeing Live.....duped by the concert press!!

Actually that isn't true. Ed was the show closing act, and if you watch video, the crowd isn't totally filled in during Vertical Horizon's set(early on anyway).

Ed didn't cover Ava Maria, he used it as the song before the band comes on stage.

No where did it say on advertising that LIVE was playing the concert. Nobody was duped.

I see people referring to Ed's big boy voice. I haven't heard that in earnest since pre TDTH. Sure, you may get a snippet here and there but overall it's just not there anymore. I highly doubt it's ever coming back.

The advertising of Ed of Live is wrong.....how many times does your fickle half developed brain need to be told.

I only reported the news..........go back to cleaning the urinals

It's clear that Ed has abandoned any idea of doing something different and is now completely relying on his past with Live to make a living. At least when Alive came out there was a little more emphasis on that and Ed as a solo artist. That is completely gone. I'd have some respect if he had stuck to his guns and truly focused on the solo stuff. There are plenty of artists that truly did go solo and establish solo careers beyond their identities in very big bands, Sting, Phil Collins, Lionel Richie, Steve Perry just to name a few. Not saying Ed could have been as successful as those but he could surely still make a living without having to pimp out Live so much. Just pathetic really.

The dichotomy is this...... The go solo angle to move away from Live and concentrate on newly created music seems to be something worthy. At that time it was understandable. The past year have proven that he can only keep his way of living alive (nopun) is to use Live as his main source of content for his concerts. I beleive Maestro or WorldDreamer stated when Live gets going with a concert tour, Ed maybe out of luck to keep his 'Live' show viable. His new EP and Album better have some really outstanding solo work or it's end game. Ed's comments on not closing doors is firmly steeped in a way to have future revenue streams.

Now that C&C&P with CS and SH are going to be performing as Live, Ed's underestimated CC&P totally. The door may be closed for a long time. C&C&P do not need music to survive and live a comfortable life. I can vouch. Because they want to keep Live a viable band, along with having TGF and the relationship with Candlebox. Other ventures are possible.

I won't hold my breath that we'll get another Zion (Ed's best solo track IMO). The presentation of how he does his songs now with all the changes in his voice and tone are grating to most who once knew him to be a rock legend at the mic!!

Flame away !!!

Both acts can tour, especially if Ed will be focusing on an acoustic tour while the rest perform full band shows. It is a big world, and acoustic/full band shows are typically booked into different types of venues. I don't see an issue.

Yeah, it's not as if it's some mystery as to what is going on or what will happen. Just common sense. No matter what someone's lot in life or level of success or not, you can't escape the basic principles of human behavior. Everything Ed does seems to be rooted in selfishness and ego these days. Not too hard to predict the consequences.

You seemed to have an issue with Live without Ed even touring full stop let alone now not seeing an issue of both acts touring simultaneously. Which I don't see a problem with either.

I'd love to see an interviewer put it to Ed what his thoughts are on Live touring with a new singer. He'd be in a tricky spot. He can't say he's upset at it because the spirit of Live is only the original 4, because he continues to play Live songs (yes Nick, Live is more than a name, take your "branding" and shove it). He can't say that he's not paying attention because he's clearly showing us that Live is the biggest part of his life's work, you don't just not pay attention.
It would honestly be absolutely refreshing to hear Ed wish them well and leave it at that, he doesn't have to sing their praises, nor they of him, but I'd seriously tip my hat to Ed if he did that.

HE would def say one of the two possible things about that:

'New vocalist? Really? Never heard of it? Who? Chris who? No, I do not know who that is' grinnnnnn

'My lawyers told me not to speak about that as the band Live is a complete mischaracterisation' grinnnnnnnnn
