This board has been my main source for +LiVe+ bootlegs in the past 2 or 3 years.
As hard drives storage capacities have increased, I'm mainly trying to collect pure sourced material.

Two facts :

1. There are still a bunch of +LiVe+ bootlegs jewels that remain unsurfaced as pure sourced format (I'm thinking about some amazing soundboards like Gino '95 or Cirkus '97, a few FM broadcasts and honorable sounding audience recordings like Erie, PA '97).

2. Most of the material that has been posted here comes from about 10 people (Dangum, JSax, OutTodry, Ridley, BERLINONE, brianblank, myself ...).

We probably reached the limit of what we could share and still, some great recordings we have as mp3 and some older cassette or DAT stuff from both TC/SS eras listed on some old-school live music traders pages over the internet are missing.

So I think it's time to open ourselves to some larger communities like http://www.dimeadozen.org/ or http://zombtracker.the-zomb.com/ and to see what we could get from the rest of the world.

At last, the recent comeback with Chris Shinn as lead vocalist and the forthcoming new songs and tour might help us grabbing some interest from older and currently idle +LiVe+ addicts.

It's not my idea. The Oasis fan community did that recently and quite a few recordings were shared. I know the Oasis fanbase is bigger than the +LiVe+ fanbase, but we have nothing to lose smile.gif

We could link each torrent to a single post on this board which lists each and every tour date and radio/TV appearance the band has done to date and check what has already been shared and what is still missing.

(+ this might bring us some new people on the board)

What do you think ?

I agree. We should start posting the higher quality recordings we have to these sites. By increasing the visibility of Live then there's more chance that other traders will start sharing recordings from their collections.

BTW, is the Chris Shinn led Live open taping?

Agreed,
I already started to put together ALL my +LIVE+ material (Bootlegheaven, Dimeadozen, Liverockspace and all other material) on one Harddrive (2 TB).
I did spend nightly hours to DL from the mentioned sites.
Until now I have gathered about 50 % of the collected material from all of my Harddrives (and I do have about 17 of them (all together 9 TB), and all of them CAN contain music (LIVE, TGF, 3DD, Coldplay and Italian music --> these are my interest).
Whenever a LIVE concert was available at DIMEADOZEN I almost for sure was able to DL it.
So YES, I do support this great project.
I will start by making a small list (as mentioned to start) of my first contribution to this project.
Hope it'll work.

good idea, but are torrents the way to go? They completely rely on people to seed them, and for a niche market (yes, one band is a niche market, no matter how popular they are) it can be tough to sustain. What about a hosting service or even newsgroups?

Just checked in, hi there!

Been reading a while here and today saw this topic and I absolutely love the idea. Torrents are the way to go, since it makes it pretty easy to share HQ audios with many fans and you don't need to hang on to some limited speed on a server or filehoster. I couldn't live without my torrent since I'm totally bootleg addicted and since the strike against Megaupload filehosters keep falling like dominos and so many great bootlegs (just flip some threads back in this fabulous board here, lots of dead links unfortunately) vanish faster than they appear.

Just yesterday I luckily managed to pull of a few Live and even an Ed recording of dimeadozen. They were listed as 0 seeders, but I got them all within 24hrs. And I totally agree with the fact, that sharing more Live stuff will occure that even more from others may surface. I'm pretty sure the Live community is bigger than the communities of some of the bands that get posted on dime, that I never heard of lol.

I know I'm new and you don't know anything about me, but if somebody needs help to transfer cassettes, I recently purchased a new tapedeck to transfer old bootlegs from another band I'm addicted to and I would be glad to help.

I didn't respond myself because the guy asked for a digital transfert. I have a MD standalone unit and a pretty good external soundcard, but I can only do analog transfert.

We already have a recording (different source) of the following :
Hartford Ampitheater Hartford CT 8/23/2000

and a pre-FM (but uncomplete) version of the following :
House of Blues Las Vegas NV

Both London shows seem to be unsurfaced :
Camden England UK 6/30/1999
Camden England UK 7/1/1999

It's pretty exciting to think we could possibly make some previously unsurfaced recordings poping up yahoo.gif

Anybody knows if a complete tour dates (including radio and TV appearances) list is available somewhere ?

We could post it here and check each and every show that's already been shared with links to download the files.

I have to check my own collection, but I'm pretty sure I still have pure sourced transferts of some interesting oldies I haven't shared yet like for example :
* 10/06/94 The Sting, New Britain, CT (listenable audience - set includes Mother Earth Is A Vicious Crowd)
* Reilly Center '97 (show was cut short because Ed got hit by a shoe during Shit Town + they played an early cersion of Vine Street)
* 09/13/00 Target Center, Minneapolis, MN (very good sounding audience and a rare live version of Face & Ghost)
* 06/22/06 Elserhalle, Munich, Germany (nothing particular about this show except it is my master and I could provide an updated transfert of it)

Which torrent boards do you think we should include in this project ?
* dime a dozen
* zomb tracker
* trader's den
* taper's section (I think we should include this one, as many long time live concerts tapers are posting there !)

Look at all the recordings listed here :

If only we could get those people to share some...

This evening (I hope) I can upload my tour-schedule (EXCEL).
I made it from several sources and it is pretty good ( blush.gif )

We could use that one as a Master --> I can mention the shows that have been on Liverockspace, Dimeadozen and Bootlegheaven (The Live Archive in a later stadium).
My mentioning doesn't mean I do have all of these shows, I lost several with HD crashes.

Of course, that would be very very helpful !! Thank you wink.gif

I just got my old CD-Rs collection back and tried to rip 2 of them (The Sting 94 and Grunspan 2001) using EAC.
I get many errors and when I listen to the wav files, I can hear alot of statics omg.gif

The discs are more than 10 years old and it seems they suffered from aging (ageing ?).

Let's see if I can work something out ...

Here it is; due to some minor problems a little late.
Hope this can be a start, have a look.
I also included the lists of Bootlegheaven and Liverockspace.
This is what they "offered" at that time.

Let me know if this is something we can work with.
