I just tried it. They must have pretty good search engine optimization. Although it is pretty cool that my silly little site is listed third on the first page of search results, and I haven't even gotten anything started on there yet. [Edit: Actually my site has three seperate appearances on the first page of Google search results for "The Band Live" so maybe I have more exposure than the band's official website and I only have 2 blog entires and some photo galleries on there.]

Keep in mind Google has smart optimization based on your own searches. So if you tested this with someone who doesn't look at +Live+ related pages, they might not get the same query results as you.

I would prefer Conan O'Brien

I'd prefer Conan as well, 1) Because he has great judgement when it comes to music, 2) He is a musician himself, 3) Conan was part of the SNL writing staff when LIVE made their appearances and according to Comedian Jay Mohr (former SNL cast member), LIVE received the rare standing ovation after their performance not only by the audience, but writers and cast. There is an excerpt in Mohr's book, Gasping For Airtime that describes this event.

No.

Agreed. Is that really Live's audience these days? I hope not. Letterman, Conan, or Fallon wouldn't be too bad. Not as many viewers but I'd like to see them on Carson Daly. He really has some good musical acts on his show and he usually covers their back story along with footage of several songs from a local concert hall.

I say it is all in our hands, in the hands of the die hards.

Guys, it is OUR business to spread the word.

WE HAVE TO DO IT

We all have got internet! The community in runet doubled when Live came back, as I spread the word.

DOUBLED

COME THE FUCK ON! Spin Twitter, Facebook, forums, spam everywhere.

Let the world know!

No?
Why not, Pokey?

Besides the fact that a rock band with the original spirit of Live shouldn't be trying to cater for the sort of audience that Ellen has. On a personal level I just can't stand that show. I find Ellen an exceptionally annoying person who is totally void of humour and originality, so much so that her show isn't much more than her in front of an audience going "ok guys, lets see what's funny on the internet today!" And then she'll show a picture of a cat in sunglasses or some shit and do a CRRRRRAZZZY dance cos she's just sooo whacky!! Then she'll finish off the show by having a topless body builder guy come out so her 99% female audience can all scream and squeal and she'll make suggestive comments to him and its soooo funny because she's a lesbian and not REALLY attracted to him, it's just such clever humour!!

Yeah, I worked in an office once where I had to sit through that shit every day when certain people had the TV on, there is mental scarring tongue.gif

Right on +Ed+ that is exactly what I have been doing since the York, PA show and even before. I've used all my contacts in the media and have been spreading the word via Twitter, FB, etc. I agree that it is us diehards who need to keep the ball rolling and I plan on continuing to do my part. The enthusiasm that +Ed+ shows is the kind that I wish many on us had on here. I know we all have busy lives, but it doesn't take much to post a video and add a little verbiage about our favorite band on Facebook. I try to do this at least a few times a week. Just get out there and do what you can, I really believe in the power of social media and fans have a way of changing things quickly.

I have another example.

I got into contact with the bassist of my fave Russian band Animal Jazz. I offered him to translate the news into English. The band does get some spins on the radio, wins some awards, but still they are not millionaires at all. More than that, they hardly make ends meet sometimes. But the story is not about that. We chatted a bit and I suddenly said: "Why don't we start a Street Team?" "A what?" he said...

Their official forum was DEAD.

The day street team was announced on their website, the forum crashed with visitors. From 100 users it bumped to 500 overnight!

All I say is that nothing is impossible.

All we have to do is show the love.

It is really hard to generate interest in the band when they aren't yet touring and they don't have an album with a sound or an image yet.

Oh yeah, and I tried the search on a random school computer and "live the band" still generates f4l first.

Oh I see, poor you.
I've never actually watched Ellen, only because I've never found her funny and because That '70's Show is on when she is, if I'm watching anything, it's that. It's pathetic how funny I find that show; I can watch rerun after rerun and still find it funny.

But I say play whatever tv shows they're able to. Any exposure is good exposure, imo....a chance to pick up new fans from wherever shouldn't be passed by.
Letterman seems like a good choice as they did his show a few times back in the day. He obviously enjoyed their music back then...who knows maybe he's got a soft spot for them.
Way too soon for any of that, I know. One can hope though.

The Ellen Show would fit the same Live that sang Heaven, it doesn't fit the real Live. Like OTD said, Conan fits the real Live. Jimmy Kimmel also fits the real Live.

You perfectly described why I can't stand her and that stupid show. And I've only seen parts of it here and there and it is exactly what you say.
