maybe missing a sentence like:

I fall asleep everynight on the beautiful falsetto of the song "Call me a fool".

Oups, that's why we call him this way for years now!

Very funny stuff!

Nice, but I think it's simply that to question anything about EK is to question himself. Hey, I have a hard time imagining EK circa 2012 could be the same guy circa 1992. But I don't have anything vested in the guy so it's no big deal to realize he really is who he is now. It doesn't diminish what he did in the 90's, but then again, what he did then doesn't cloud my judgement on who he is now. I don't derive any of my identity from idolizing rock singers so it's pretty easy for me to distinguish the difference in him now vs then. It's hard for others to do this because they idolize him so much.

QUOTE(FishOutaWater @ Apr 23 2012, 9:29 am) *

From what I know of Ed, he is as much business man as musician and it is my personal belief that he has his finger on the pulse of how his brand and image and marketing are being presented to the public. Venue after venue, his "I Alone" tour where he plays mostly Live songs and a few off of his "ALiVE" album are being billed as "Live's Ed Kowalczyk" using the font and red color that is unique to the likeness and image of Live. All the while, he does interviews where he carefully avoids all discussion of the break-up and his former band where he pretends to not have heard of TGF and he glosses over all the acusations made against him with an uncomfortable smile. He went out on his solo tour before the hiatus and then started his own website where he sold recordings and videos of him performing Live songs without paying publishing and royalties to Black Coffee - the company that owns the rights to those songs.

I think Ed knows exactly how he is being presented to the public, and he is probably personally responsible for it. He strikes me as the kind of person who has his finger on the pulse of his marketing.

And I recently re-read his Answer to the complaint filed against him in New York, and I think that he believes that he is solely responsible for the success of Live, as he thinks that he was the "driving force" and almost excludive song-writer and musican for the band, and that he graciously shared the revenue with CCP for many years as a gratuitous and friendly gesture, but not because they deserved it or earned it or were responsible for the success of Live. So I think that he believes that he has every right to use and exploit Live for his gain now, because I think that he believes that it is rightfully his and he deserves it. I imagine that he has moments in private that would make Mel Gibson blush when he thinks about CCP going off with another lead singer as the band Live without him and the idea of him not being thought of as Live must drive him nuts. Oh well. Too bad, you ungrateful, egotistical SOB.

I have made a similar point before. This is no way he doesn't know how he is being marketed.

And to add to the list of him using Live as much as humanly possible...his website was initially eddieklive.com which now redirects to whatever it is now.

He has never, not once, tried to distance himself from Live via his actions. He has tried his hardest to stay linked to Live in every way possible, which isn't a bad thing unless you tell us in every other interview that you want to move on and go in another direction.

Ed is a "do as I say, not as I do" hypocrite of the worst kind.

It's not nonsense. What is nonsense is the continued lack of accountability of venues and booking agents being too feeble and booking it correctly. It's all in the name of preserving and squeezing the dollar.

How does it affect CCP negativley how he bills himself? If he is billed as of LIVE it actually may help LIVE 2.0 get people through the door if they decide to book shows.

False Advertising. You're trying to insinuate I said it was negative for CCP.......I said it's legally wrong.

Doesn't matter, people will come through the doors....you forget millions are more than glad Ed is gone.

Doesn't anyone find it really odd that Ed started his edkowalczyk.com website (Solo site) back in 2004?

False advertising is just the beginning of what is happening here. Making or giving the excuse, "Oh I was unaware of how I was being billed for shows," will in no way hold up. Ignorance is no excuse, especially when there are advertising outside of the venue such as: posters and the marquee. To go along with local radio who will publicize a show and may even have EK in for a sit down on a morning show (which in Charlotte I'm sure will now be highly unlikely). There is no way that you can convince me that EK is not aware of his billing. As Funky posted earlier this has happened other places.

The band Live is a rock'n roll band. Ed is not. Ed is playing pop solo shows with Christian music and fruity Hannah Montana versions of Live songs.

Live, as far as we can tell, will be loud and gritty.

Current Ed is at the opposite end of the spectrum compared to current Live regarding style of music.

If I want to see rock'n roll and I go see Eddie K of Live and fall asleep then I potentially won't go see Live when they roll into town.

That is how it could negatively impact CCP and the brand of Live.
