My question is what songs would you like to see/hear Live redo?

And I am not talking about doing them but just doing over with some tweaks (like the 4 on their website). I am talking about songs that if given a different sound could be incredible. Or songs with new lyrics (Believe) or with added instruments (Overcome) that could end up being something special.

Many of the Live songs you don't want to touch. They are perfect. But I am talking about those that you may skip or ones that you feel if they just had a little "more" then they would be great songs.

For me I think it would be cool to do an updated and more instrumentally powerful Susquehanna. I think some changes could be made to Flow and it would be a great song. Also, Sanctity of Dreams sounded promising aside from some (not all) of the silly lyrics. Same goes for Life Marches On. Make them both a little more gritty. And little heavier.

Thoughts?

If Simple Creed had real lyrics and dumped the Tricky section, the song could actually be good.

I would be fine with ANY high quality recording of Susquehanna, I am pretty sure it's my second favorite Live song.

As it is, I've always wanted to have the final TDTH tracks WITHOUT the fade outs. I hate fade outs and there are several on that album that really deserved more. I'm looking at you Where Fishes Go. At least I got to hear the endings on the TDTH demo.

I don't know about Susquehanna, I love the song, that version from the Rhode Island University bootleg version of it is just amazing. But it is one of those songs where I think Ed absolutely owned it. There are a few Live songs where one member just steps to the forefront and demands attention, and to me that is Ed with Susquehanna, and you know I'm in the camp of being extremely happy with CS replacing Ed, I just don't know if he should go near this song. Hell I wouldn't even want 2012 Ed to go near this song, even more so than CS. So I'll stick with my RIU bootleg of the song, which I don't think could be topped even if there was a proper studio version done for TC back in the day honestly either.

But totally with you on the fade outs, they just sound so unnatural, when I go to see a band the songs don't just slowly fade to nothingness.

There's a few songs we haven't heard that may as well be redone and put out there. If this is the only way we're ever going to properly hear Hold Me Up, then throw that on the pile too for me, would love to hear that. As far as other already released songs go, if they want to re-record a few more and give them away as freebies then I'm happy to have them! But I'd rather them not take up too much space on an actual album or EP on rerecording stuff that we already have.

Yeah I really just meant that I want a quality version of the original recording. I may have missed the point of this thread... nervous.gif

I'm seriously happy with the RIU bootleg copy of it, the power and emotion in that song recording, not to mention the quality of the recording itself has me more than satisfied, as far as I'm concerned that IS Susquehanna.

But hey, if it's on offer, I'll take it hehe.gif

The OP was more for songs that could have been great/better if only the band could have a "redo".

Since Shinn is the new lead then a redo or two could be beneficial.

A good example is the redo of Believe into Honest Man. Basically capitalizing on songs that had much potential but "missed" due to lyrics or other band members being pushed to the back of the bus or even songs that were really good but a different take on them could be great (Overcome is a good example using full band).

I love Susquehanna, and yes, Ed does nail it. I just think it could be a cool song especially since it was never released, if it becomes more of a "full band" type song.

What about Libra? Or Paper Flowers? No one ever really talks about the songs off DOAD, but those two songs could sound particularly great re-worked/rocked-up.

How about SFBM minus The River. That album could use a redo.

That album could use a re-branding. No thanks.

I am a big fan of many songs off of DOAD of course Good Pain off that album would be my choice. I always felt like the version on DOAD was a better version than the one on MJ. I love Jerry Harrison, but I always felt like the one on MJ was more overproduced and lacked the stripped down sound of the original one.

talking about DOAD, my favorite has always been hands of a teacher. Like the funky bass lines...would like a re-recording of this one...

and I totally agree with a recording of Susquehanna. A very nice song...

Awesome topic, WD. It's a tough one though. I believe the guys are in an excited, hungry, pasionately creative place right now. Nerve endings are raw and electricity is in the air. Sure would like to see all that appied to new material, particular with CS singing. TGF did it this way and the end result was outstanding. There will always be time to redo older tunes. Obviously, I'm excited and probably a little impatient. I know that the CS vs. EK comparisons will wane with the new music. How could you compare since Ed neither wrote nor sang the new? All I know is whatever is put out, I'll need to "feel" it.
