I just wish they could hurry up and announce it. I mean I'm sure they're waiting for some reason. Didn't Shinn just release a new solo album? Maybe they agreed to hold off so as to not steal the thunder from that? Then have people jumping on that and judging what he'll sound like in Live based off his own album?

I just think that for those of us who don't know it's reasonable to speculate on little clues or coincidences or whatever because we've just been left to our own devices. It may not be Shinn, doesn't mean it's not still coincidental. Whether it's him or not he's still a friend of the band so he could be following people Chad follows for that reason or because he's in Live. Who knows, but worth pointing out anyways!

If you listen to that new recording and still aren't sure than you have some serious hearing issues. Go back and listen to it. I already have known for quite some time who the new singer is, and hearing this new recording made me laugh incredulously at still not knowing who it is. Just listen to christ sakes. After hearing the first five words, I knew who it was straight off. Even if I didn't already know, I would have picked it off after 10 seconds of hearing his voice. Jesus people.

I could probably pick a random song i have and play it to you and you'd not be able to tell me who the singer is. If you're a Shinn fan and familiar with his work then yeah you may recognise it but to people who don't know him or whoever it is it's not as simple to tell. It's easy to say you know when you're familiar with the voice. Otherwise it's like picking a random song from a band you've never heard of and going "ok who sings this?".

Don't agree with you much here. Many singers have been mentioned and I'm sure you've all searched them all and listened to them many times. So that throws your "random" argument out the window completely. Nothing random here. That makes your post entirely nonsensical, sorry.

Out of those singers, if you can't match one to this voice, you clearly, like I said, have issues with your hearing and should probably get it checked.

You suddenly know how much people have listened to what music? Are you stalking my lastfm profile?? I've heard bits of Chris Shinn after looking him up, but I wasn't really all that thrilled with what I heard so it wasn't really worth listening to "many times". Not to say he'd be terrible in front of Live. I had similar feelings for KM and Candlebox, I still would classify neither as bands I really listen to, but when he got in with CCP it seemed all the stars aligned and it sounded great and worked.
To be honest, Shinn's voice, while capable from what I can hear, isn't exactly ground breaking or very unique in many ways. There is nothing that straight away identifies him to someone who hasn't listened to much of his stuff. So I say the random argument stuff still stands.

I would say I have no issues with my hearing, you're just taking way too much of a high horse stance on this one. I don't see the point in looking down at all the plebs who can't work it out like you have? So what? If you've worked it out, surely you can tell us who it is then? tongue.gif
Issues with hearing are more along the lines of "Ed's band have no noticeable drop offs when playing Lakini's Juice" ... that was a massive statement that one should have his ears checked over. Not being able to identify a singer from 1 song against a handful of songs I've heard only a couple of times in my life is just being a bit dramatic. I guess I just don't see the need to have this sort of aggressive stance over something like this.

I think I listened to one Chris Shinn track at some point. But I can't remember what it sounded like, so if the new singer is actually him, well... I can't tell from the AOY recording. I don't care who it is.

Again, matter of taste. I'm not denying his abilities, his voice is controlled, he sings within his range, he has passion and obviously knows what he's doing. So I never said he didn't have a great voice, I said I didn't find it all that unique, but then again I'm a harsh critic on that. His solo stuff + other bands he's with really hasn't grabbed me, but that can be a multitude of factors behind that.
As I said, I also wasn't really all that taken with Kevin Martin when I first listened and with Candlebox, I still don't really listen to much of that. However he just worked perfectly with TGF so I am completely open to giving Shinn the same chance and history has shown CCP make good choices like this so I'm optimistic even though I have reservations.

I don't like this idea that if you're not 110% behind it and already agreeing its the most awesome thing in the world, and every move CCP make, that you're some kind of philistine. I like to think I'm the opposite of Nick, we both have reservations but where he chooses to make his mind up that he won't like it early on, I am more than happy to keep an open mind and hope to love it, because as I say, history with CCP shows that I probably will.

So for the love of God people, just because one doesn't have his lips permentantly planted to the ass of anything Shinn or CCP does, doesn't meant you know nothing or are clueless.
Simply, he has a good voice, but so far in his work previous to Live, it just hasn't grabbed me.

Pokey, I'm not going to badger you or anything, but to hear a great Chris Shinn track check out "Keep On" by Unified Theory.

This poll on this thread is dumb... The new singer is probably none of these guys. Plus it can't be Michael Stipe because then the lyrics to People Like You wouldn't make any sense... It also automatically puts Elton John, Bono, and Springsteen out of the running too.

The new lead singer is probably someone we've never heard of... we have to remember that Live doesn't piss in the mainstream. cool.gif

Do you guys think that since it isn't the original lineup Live they should add something different or afterwards to the name?

Kind of like how the 2 members of CCR moved on became Creedence Clearwater Revisited?

Just a thought.

Absolutely. It would allow them to use the name and songs while distinguishing them from the original band and Ed.
