Ed Kowalczyk wrote all the LIVE songs that LIVE 2.0 is singing at the moment. If you don't see a difference between him and Adam/Railo, then you are beyond help.

On your other argument, The Gracious Few said themselves that they have nothing to do with LIVE. So if one forum leaves, it should be theres.

I smell fear....

After seeing this clip I now fully understand why Ed opted not to play it at that show even though it was on the setlist.

Remember Fish's passionate post before WANTING to find something in Alive to like, a lot of us hoping Ed would do SOMETHING that we (wait why am I capitalising certain words like Zman, good god the apple doesn't fall far from the tree...) would enjoy, a lot of us really liked Zion, we rip on Ed a lot, but if he smashed something out of the park and I thought it was good music, hell I'm a mercenary, I'd listen to it. But Nicko doesn't even want to like Live without Ed, he doesn't hope they'll surprise him, he won't let them surprise him. That's why he only belongs in here, not out there.

U know i just had 2 write that whilst I have had a cpl of listens and I don't really like this much, the ed bagging has gone to ridiculous heights here and thats shithouse. Fine Ed is doing different music now - hell I didn't mind alive much its not my favourite by a long shot but I enjoy listening to it still. But just because someone's music tastes and creativeness flow in a different direction as they get older and have a family is no reason to bag someone to death like this geez I even feel sorry for the guy. He would have put days into putting that song together and recording it and u can totally not like it- hate even. But to shitcan the guy like this is not on I like old live, Ed & the new live but reading the shit on here turns me off the site in general and I'm sure i'm not alone here.

Ps. half of you were probably the ones constantly shitcanning ed for playing old live hits and saying how good TGF were for only playing new songs and not rehashing the old. Funny how the new live is simply rehashing these same old hits yet all of a sudden its acceptable.

Live never said they left the past behind as they were, are and will be Live.

Ed said he wants to move on, needs something fresh and new, he closes the Live chapter of his life and wants to spread his wings, but these "new" things turned out to be old songs played over and over again in ever increasing numbers.

He did not stick to what he said. Those are my 2 cents

Yeah man we've been over this, new Live played 2 shorterend gigs, one a rehearsal and one a secret show and yes they played a lot of hits but the ratio was still ok with bringing back some forgotten gems. The demos they are releasing are of the bigger hits because they're not playing their hand too early, yeah I'd prefer nothing but lesser known songs, but its still completely fresh with a musical vibe we have not heard in over 10yrs and a new voice. Maybe once they've been touring a few years if the setlist remains stale from start to go, then I'd kick up a fuss, until then you're not comparing apples with apples, you're glossing over a lot of details to stick things into easy to compare categories. They have told us they will be going further back into the archives and they gave us a small taste of that within a 10 song setlist.
This is not the same as holding double standards because the situations are NOT the same, it's like saying liking chocolate and disliking vanilla is having a double standard because it's still all ice cream - well, no its not, the flavours are completely different.

I think Ed heading off on his own acoustic shows was a new direction/chapter whatever you want to call it. To expect him not to play hits that he has sang the last 15 years (most of which he is credited with writing anyway) is quite ridiculous. And now he is surrounded by a group of new ppl writing quite different music I think that is definately a new direction/chapter I don't see the problem with that.

And to say that the new live's versions of the songs are fresh with a new musical vibe, are you implying Ed's versions weren't? Did Ed acoustic sound the same as the original recordings did they?????!!!!!!!!! And has Ed prepared new professional recordings of old songs like the new live???!!!! I think most general public that don't know the details will think the new live recordings are the old ones anyway there honestly isn't a huge difference. People are just bagging the crap out of Ed for the sake of it and that really sucks.

Well Ed's versions are really just a continuation from why he turned live into for the last few years. He sounded happier ill give him that (getting an even bigger share of the money will do that to you!) but I wouldn't call them fresh. The acoustic was def the better way to go, less mediocre musicians around him was good. The thing you're missing is that we are not bagging Ed for the sake of it. A few of us have said we WANT him to make good music. I don't really like the guy anymore but if he makes something on par with Zion then I'll listen to it. Unlike some people here who don't even want Live to do well. That's the difference.
Some of us here view judge music on what is good for the fans and good for the art, some of us judge it on what's good for finances.

I don't feel sorry for Ed, I think he brought it all on himself, how he manage to get all these people who knew him intimately (not just CCP) to denounce him is pretty telling. BUT if he makes a good song, I'll listen to it. I'm willing and open to that. Fish said it, he wants to be surprised. So yeah Ed is gonna keep on copping shit as long as he's doing what he does, but either deal with it or don't I guess.

It's hard to believe there is this much discussion about a crappy 30 second clip of a crappy song.

I know musical taste is subjective, but this song is objectively bad. The melody has no direction (as much as I didn't like Alive I wouldn't have said that about the majority of the songs), the chord structure is overused, and the lyrics sound like they were written from a "build a Christian song" macro on the internet.

That doesn't mean that people won't like it, just means Ed is mailing it in.
