What's most telling is that selling under 10,000 copies gets you in the Billboard top 100

I heard Ed sold thousands upon thousands of albums from his merch table after shows. Maybe Candlebox should get a merch table. lol.gif

The 90's were an aberration. Prior to that, stations played what they were paid to play. Label reps threw around money and coke and got their artists played. The alternative revolution exposed the world to a ton of music they wouldn't have otherwise heard outside of college radio. Unfortunately, the labels and the industry corporatized the indie world and shoved the true artists back to the indie scene. That may be alright and tolerable for up and coming bands but for 90's acts that hit it big and are older these days it's a tough pill to swallow. After having that much success and notoriety to have to basically rely on grass roots marketing to make a go of it is tough. Just look at TGF.

Do you think the lack of sales for Candlebox's new album will deter LIVE from releasing a full length new album?

I don't think Candlebox's sales have anything to do with what the guys will do as Live.
(I'm answering this as if a normal human asked it)
It's true bands don't sell physical albums like they used to, because it's just to easy to steal them.
If they don't release a whole album, it will be because of the state of the industry, not because of Candlebox or TGF or anything like that.
The fact that they're in the studio (RIGHT NOW!!!! happy.gif ) and they have a renewed energy and enthusiasm leads me to believe (hope!) that they will release an entire album. and we'll see what happens from there.

but who knows (OTD?) smile.gif

I love the new Candlebox (just to say something on topic- but I really do!)

Why would us Live fans care about record sales? We don't.......we care about the music. Period!! They will release songs with Chris Shinn and a lot of people will like it alot. The industry has changed. Live won't be tied to some corporate label. They'll do it on their own and if the vibe of the first 2 rehearsal shows is any indication of how the fans loved it.......Sales and Charts don't matter. Give me the music....when I listen to music I am not thinking of dollar signs!!

...and again the CB record is a mix of all different types of song genre's. It was reviewed with those sentiments and I love the contrast of tones and sounds. It's not all hard rock, but in every song there is soul grabbing guitar piece. The remakes are also excellent.

Your baiting questions border on the retarded and stupid. I think I am going to make a audio recording of a dope saying all the crap you've asked and postured over the past 3 years. You are only a hanger on in the Live community do to commercialism. Music is wasted on you.

music industry sucks!!!

NO ONE is booking or selling what they used to

I know some real good players who cant get gigs, etc

CANDLEBOX, THE GRACIOUS FEW AND +LIVE+

are the BEST thing to happen to ROCK & ROLL

I bet they outsell the sellouts anytime! thumbsup.gif

Album sales numbers are pretty meaningless now that Spotify exists. Having a physical album is only important for sales at the merch table, because touring is where all the money comes from. Candlebox seems to be doing just fine in that regard, and Live will do fine too.

That's the shit. It was pretty normal in Russia 10 years ago when the musician could only get money for touring. Now it is spread worldwide. And I hate it.

That is why no band that is not world known come to my country. A bud of mine saw Alter Bridge in Germany a year ago and he managed to catch Trem after the show. He asked him why they are not coming to Russia. "Noone knows us there. We sold about 10 records in the last 7 years in Russia,"-was the answer.

There are hundreds of people dying to see Alter Bridge here. And we can not do a thing.

Z, thank you very much, that is very kind of you. However I sure do doubt I will ever hop over. A very long and a very expensive flight that is. But I hold it in my dreams and will bare your offer in mind. Thanks again, mate, much appreciated! thumbsup.gif
