Love Take Over Me’ Music Producer Jamie Candiloro Talks To The SFN:

Can you share with us some musical acts you’ve worked with?
R.E.M. was a band I worked with a bunch in the early 2000s. There was a five year period where I recorded most of their albums. I have done a few records with Ryan Adams. I had the chance to record a few songs and mix a Willie Nelson album. I did a lot of work with Courtney Love for her first solo album. I have also made three records with Lisa Germano and we about to put out a fourth this year. I am currently working a lot with Ed Kowalczyk from the band Live. He is an amazing artist and I’m very excited about the tracks we have been putting together. I guess I like the feeling at the end of the day of knowing I created something even if its not perfect or just part of where I needed to wander so I stay busy.

So would this indicate Ed is working on a record rather than just a few tracks?

I honestly don't know. I believe the plan was not an album, but I guess we could be getting one. Ed has been quiet lately working in the studio. I guess we'll know soon.

If Condiloro can steer Ed into the direction of a Ryan Adams like record that would be pretty cool and I'd think a promising direction for Ed. I may actually listen to a record with songs similar to Horse with some steel guitars laced throughout. Turn down the pop/rock a notch and go alt/country for a album. Interesting.

normally anything almost country makes me throw up in my mouth.
but Horse is a great song. And I believe Ed is still capable of singing that way. I listened to the pro video Nick posted of Ed in Philly last year, and I hate that I'd rather listen to a cd than hear him live. so yeah, anything but that pop he's been pumping out.

It is great if it is a bluesy country vibe

But see, we still have expectations. Too bad facepalm.gif

Ed needs to put out a great album. He is on thin ice. I hope the people he is working with understand that.

Ed is booked on another pretty full summer slate of shows and also has the I Alone Acoustic tour kicking off later this year/early next year. He is going to continue to be fine.

Ed has more money than all of us on this board do combined(unless there are some millionaires on here that we don't know about).

And that's really important to all of our enjoyment of his music really, I really like focusing on the bank balances of my musical heros!

That aside as it was stated above if a more alt. country vibe can be brought out in Ed that could be good. He has a voice that can suit it, see the end of songs when he lets go a bit like Supernatural, Love My Way etc... I've been in a huge blues/country/bluegrass phase lately so it could be interesting, some slide guitar, barn dance stompers etc... Of course if he went this route I'd instantly be turned off if all the lyrics were just "I wanna get down on my knees and start pleasing Jesus, I wanna feel his salvation all over my face!".

Once again the difference is here, I WANT to like Ed's album.

I hope Ed realizes it. to those of us who value it for what it is, the music is what matters, and I don't care if he makes 11teen million per record sold. I don't care if he has to file for bankruptcy and go on celebrity has-been shows to make money. I don't care if he actually does have to get a job at starbucks.

all I care about is that when I hear his new record, I feel exactly the same kind of whatever this is that I feel right now as I hear him sing "flags and mental jewelry's all I know..."

not that it will be the same. I really truly believe MJ, TC, SS, and TDTH were once in a lifetime deals. the fact that they pulled off 4 amazing, mind-blowing, unique albums - well, we should all count our lucky stars.

but I want this voice. this energy. this emotion.

I don't want shit and filler like In Your Light and Just In Time. Good Lord they cause me pain.

and I know his voice is different, he's aged, it happens. but the amount of emotion behind it (even if it's a different emotion...) - that's what I'm looking for.

so, again, fingers crossed.
naive? yup. I know.
