On March 8, 1998 - Ed, Chad, Patrick and Chad performed a surprise show at New York's legendary rock club CBGB. This show marked LIVE's return to the venue where RadioActive Records A&R agent Phil Schuster discovered the band eight years earlier. The band used the show to warm-up for their appearance the next night at the Tibet House Benefit where the musicians performed with Jonathan Cale, founding member of the Velvet Underground. During their performance at Carnegie Hall, the band was joined by Natalie Merchant and Sheryl Crow on the first public performance of "Overcome," a previously unreleased track that would eventually be used as a song of healing for the 9/11 tragedy. Other collaborators that evening included Ernie Brooks and Jerry Harrison of the Modern Lovers. The event finale featured an ensemble performance of "People Have The Power" led by Tibet champion and cultural icon, Patti Smith.

In the past there had been a short poor quality clip of the Carnegie Hall performance but I found an Associated Press story which you can watch here.
