Johnny Cash & LIVE, Has he ever heard Live's cover? Options

I'm just wondering... consiering Live's cover was recorded in 1999 (I still think it must have been 2000, considering Ed's beard , but whatever), and Johnny died in 2003 (right?), did Mr. Cash himself ever get to hear their cover? He must have, I doubt that whole Sun records album with all covers didn't get to him. On the other hand, I never heard anything about it. Only thing is Ed mentioning him during concerts in 2008 (also Paradiso 2008 DVD, "Johnny, wherever you are, we hope you'll like it!") and the short interview in the studio when they record the song (but Ed talks there about him like he was already dead? "God bless ya!")
