Live - Rock Hall of Fame Inductees for the Class of 2016, (not that we really have any say, but...) Options

LIVE is eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

Remember, artists are eligible for the Rock Hall 25 years after the release of their first record (LP, EP or single), but the induction ceremony itself takes place the following year. Click to express your opinion on their chances for the Rock Hall.

Not gonna happen. I love Live, don't get me wrong, but when I think of the Hall of Fame I think (perhaps improperly) of what makes the band unique and what special contribution have they made to the world of music.

Pearl Jam was one of those bands that was on the forefront of the whole "alternative/grunge" (I HATE those terms) revolution of the early 90's. They have also stayed around and have remained popular (a relative term) for many, many years.

The same cannot be said of Live. When you think of bands that shaped the early 90's popular music scene, Live is not on that list. They were sort of the wave that came after. Yes, I know Mental Jewelry was out in '92 (technically 1991, wasn't it released on Dec 31st?), but they didn't really make an impact whatsoever until Throwing Copper. And by that time, they were not really pioneers of the genre but one of the popular bands that followed.

Also, as we all know, they dropped way off throughout their career. Your average music fan probably has no idea what Live has done since at least 2000.

I just don't see a compelling argument for the HOF, even though I personally love the music, listen to it every day, and play it on guitar every day.
