Here is a recent article with Comments about Live without Kowalczyk:

Live Moving Forward Without Kowalczyk

York, PA - On Tuesday, three members of multi-platinum rock band Live -- Patrick Dahlheimer, Chad Gracey and Chad Taylor -- announced plans for a $45 million development project in York.
They also set the record straight about the status of Live, which started in 1984 at York's Edgar Fahs Smith Middle School.

For years, Live had a fourth member -- frontman Ed Kowalczyk.

But Kowalczyk, who left the band more than two years ago, isn't involved in the development project, Taylor said Tuesday. He added that Kowalczyk hasn't been in contact with other Live members for a few years.

Attempts to reach Kowalczyk last week for this story weren't returned.

Taylor said he never thought the original incarnation of Live, which made hit records and toured the globe, would end.

"This is sort of a typical ending," he said, referring to other bands that have weathered decades of fame only to unravel.

Kowalczyk and Taylor attended kindergarten together. Taylor said he's not opposed to working with Kowalczyk again someday.

"I'm not me without Ed," Taylor said. "We're still brothers."

But, for now, Live has been recording songs with a new lead singer. Taylor said he didn't want to reveal who it is just yet.

"We're up to something musically," Taylor said about a new incarnation of Live.

When Live first announced a hiatus in 2009, Taylor, Gracey and Dahlheimer formed The Gracious Few with Candlebox members Kevin Martin and Sean Hennesy.

That project is also active. Taylor said it will perform March 17 at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas.

Taylor said Live members are more than musicians; they're family men and businessmen.

Dahlheimer, Gracey and Taylor helped form Think Loud Development a decade ago. They've also created a record label, started a software development company and partnered with a production company.

Dahlheimer admits that when Live first left York, it didn't look back. But he eventually came home to raise his kids.

Now, Dahlheimer and his bandmates are ready to use Think Loud to create jobs in a community it knows and has come to appreciate. He said that the white industrial building on York Street will house a tech company and a fourth-floor recording studio.

"The city's excited," he said. "It's nice to feel wanted. We didn't know what the reaction would be. Everyone has agreed to move on."
