What really happened to Ed? Options

From the Salt Lake Tribune:

"I had simply come to the end of a chapter in my life and wanted to spread my wings and move beyond what I had been doing, in the same way, for almost 20 years. As far as the allegations that were leveled at me and purported as the reason for the breakup, they were all absolutely untrue. I have no plans to work with those individuals again."

I know there's a lot of speculation on this board, and some of you know the band members personally... does anyone know Ed's side of the story?

Most of the ones saying things that are akin to Nick asking to be counted out are not fans. Hell Nick specifically asked to be counted out as a fan.  He was jumping off the wagon and washing his hands of it... Yet he still hangs around. Why? Then claims there are a lot of people that feel the same as he does. These are a sampling of those people on Facebook. If they feel that way - walk away. Let the people who are optimistic about Live's future or at the least curiously willing to give it a chance in peace. 

You're arguing that they should be able to vent themselves to CCP, so if I were to go on Eds facebook and give him an earful then that'd be cool in your eyes right? 

And I disagree with almost all of your points. Expecting a band to just put up with people telling them that they don't even exist without one member should warrant a response. In this day and age where social media allows us to interact directly with our celebrities. 
As much as you they should have to wear any shit that is flung at them publicly then whoever is flinging the shit should expect a reply based on how social media has changed things. How you can think they don't have any kind of right of reply is beyond me. 

There is a huge difference between people reviewing their music and disparaging comments about the band. If you'd bother to read my post you'd see you do agree with some of the sentences I wrote because I said you have to expect the good reviews with the bad. If someone tells Live they don't like the new album after they listened to it then all CCP could say is "I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it". 
Someone making a judgement call before giving the band a chance. Basically telling them they have no faith in their abilities to produce the goods without the man that left them. It's just fucking different. 

And you'd also note that I said people doing it directly to Ed should also wear it if Ed spat back at them. I don't think people should be attacking Ed any more than they should attack Live on Facebook.  It's not a double standards thing. If you aren't interested in what they're doing then piss off. 
I'm not interested in what Eds doing and I dont feel the need to let him and all his fans on facebook know that, I just don't follow him. 
Bitching at CCP isn't going to do anyone any good. And if you say it's emotion and passion and venting and all of that then why does that not apply to CCP to reply to these people if they feel they need to? They're people too, they're not corporate robots that need to portray a nice clean neat company image. 

In the end we're not going to agree though so I'll leave it at that.

I don't care if a fan has an uncool opinion. i just don't want CCP to be uncool in return. Earnestly talking down to your dissenting fans when you're in a band is the lamest shit in the world. All it serves is to get all jerry springer with super emotional fans who ass kiss at every turn. At least the venting isn't ass kissing. I would rather read a genuine heartfelt dissenting than comment then read people on Lives fb who piggyback on every positive comment just to show support, like posting and "liking" every freaking opportunity. In fact, CCP remind me of billy corgan who has moderators delete any dissenting comments on the bands official message board. So lame. Unless CCP are just commenting to rile up the moronic ass kissing fans, they should definitely try to care less about their wall. The only redeeming quality is that maybe the band will drop some news, like Chad G. saying that they couldn't reach Ed. (actually, that makes all the bs worthwhile). Yes, fans should definitely hate on Ed's board if they don't like what hes done, if they feel the desire to tell it there. Again and again and again, pretty much anyone on the wall has an interest.

Honestly I think this guys point was pretty obvious and it is amazing that people can't seem to accept it whatsoever. Well that's your problem, to me they're not being "uncool". They're standing up for themselves, for their beliefs and backing their decisions.

You don't have to kiss ass, I've said it before I'm not saying I know for sure what they make will blow my mind. I'm a little apprehensive, but looking back the only time these guys disappointed me was when they took a back seat to Ed and just played what they were told. Any time they've been in the driver's seat they've never disappointed me so I'm returning the faith and being optimistic and hoping for the best with the new venture. Maybe I'll hear it and whoever the lead singer is will just really rub me the wrong way and I really struggle with it .. who knows, I would be the first to admit if I didn't like it.
You're always going to get some kiss asses here and there, Nicky boy is the biggest kiss ass fan there is around. But at least they're keeping a positive vibe, if Nick stuck to just the Ed areas and facebook I'm sure his outlook and views would be great for the place. Instead himself and people of a similar mind are trying to rattle cages and I just don't see the point.

I can accept the guy's point if he doesn't think of them as Live anymore and they're dead to him that's fine, he can believe that all he wants, but piss off then and focus on what he does like.

The difference between Ed's and CCP's posts are that CCP wear their heart on their sleeve, they've always done that. Ed's output is that of a businessman, safe, don't rock the boat, add some LOL's in there and a few to show that you're "with it". Ed seems to see his facebook and twitter as talking TO the fans, where as CCP's is talking WITH the fans. Hell Ed even had Nick doing his admin stuff for him at one stage, it was like Krusty the Clown having Bart sign his autographs for him. It's not wonder one of them is going to engage more heavily with the fans than the other for good or for bad.
You don't want the kiss ass shit, well that's all Ed is showing, you want venting and gloves off but don't want CCP doing it .. walking fucking contradiction man.

(and before you ask how I know what Ed's posts are like if I don't follow him - I used to follow him quite awhile ago but stopped as he was boring me, and you see some retweets/quoted messages from other people from time to time).

So if you want your musical idols to be corporate tie wearing, fan pandering emotionless drags then maybe you should follow Ed. If you prefer them with fire in the belly, heart on their sleeve, balls to the wall then take up with CCP. They're human, they're flawed, they get sucked into silly arguments like we do here but that's fantastic because it's REAL.
