an opinion, yes, but if you asked people in the music industry, what would be the percentage of people voting for TGF? Come on Nick! Seriously I would say 98%.

TGF's album is not a masterpiece, but a very strong album worked with the collaboration of 5 people.

Ed? He wrote 12 non-factor songs (well I like Grace, Zion and Drive) by himself Some of the songs are alike (in the same key) Can't you see the difference in the depth of the music? The chemistry between instruments? The live performances?

It's ok not to like old school rock. But to always hit on them talking about the fact that Ed is still touring and blablabla is pointless, useless and showing that finally, popularity and sales are more important than the music itself...

AWFUL!

It also almost fact that "people in the music industry" do not feel the same way as you do about TGF, because if they did, they wouldve signed them and given them some suppurt to tour more extensively than they did. The CD was great and although the objective was clearly not to reach pop status or sell massive amount of copies, TGF failed to get the music out to the people. If I asked 100 random people if they have even heard of TGF, 0-1 would say they have. I am no way, shape or form calling TGF a music failure, because that is so far from the truth. They did, however, fail on other fronts. Do not tell me that didnt matter to the band, because it does. They would much rather play to 2,000 fans than 75. The goal was to make music they love primarily but I am sure they expected a bigger reception from a wider audience. The vast majority of people at concerts and who know the CD are candebox and live fans.

Ed, for that matter, has failed musically and has also failed to deliver his music to a new audience but lets not claim that TGF was a success in ever facet.

your post is good, but the opening line is not what their objective was. They have their own label and herein lies those challenges. For what they wanted to do, they succeeded and look for that record to be re-released in order to get more support along the sames lines as the new Live album.

If they really wanted to explode (yes, I lead the charge in that championing, but certain people took a piss over sales figures), they would have played Live & Candlebox and billed themselves as that with less TGF music. Going to a big label was what they didn't want. They controlled the entire project. Most of the folks at the shows loved it and it's been a grass roots effort. The old labels are dead and broke, they don't have the cash to go about it the old way.
