10 years old....wow.

V wasn't the greatest album. It had a few good songs and a lot of experimental filler. Some great skeletons were discovered too. Transmit Your Love (Beer Down Version). The video for Like A Soldier which quickly got ignored and forgotten about. Deep Enough. Ed's haircut. Ed claiming that Overcome was written WAY after it actually was for publicity's sake in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

Still....gotta say happy birthday even if you don't like the child.

I remember getting 6 or so minute or two clips of a few of the songs that we could download. Thought that was a great way to promote the album, and indeed I enjoyed some of the clips more than the album cuts.

I remember those too! I recall playing them in realplayer over and over again getting pumped up for the album. Got the leak when it hit and, while it wasn't quite what I was expecting, I still enjoyed it. It's a great summer album to me because of that.

One thing that stands out about V is the smell of the liner notes. I don't know if it was an Australian thing, but the paper booklet had a strong odour.

Also, the V tour was the first time I traveled interstate to see a concert. For some reason Live left Perth off their Australian tour so I flew to Sydney to see back-to-back shows. I met a bunch of SOYers and caught the 'touring bug' which saw me travel to multiple cities on Live's 2003, 2004 and 2006 Australian tours.

Wow. I thought I was the only person in the world who really took notice of the smell of cd insert booklets.

V had a unique smell, but one that I think I'd noticed in other cd's. I don't know if it was ever released with different paper but the one I got had a matte finish. No gloss. That may have had something to do with it.

Speaking of the insert booklets... I never smelled a booklet that had the same scent that Secret Samadhi had. I think I may have smelled another one like Throwing Copper (I think Pet Your Friends by Dishwalla smelled similar), but SS had this very different scent. It really fit the color scheme. If I could compare it to any cologne I've ever smelled? Maybe Emporio Armani. It had kind of a soft, grey-cream scent... if that makes sense.

At least that's what I remember...
