Hey Live friends,

I wrote this and Steve is a really cool guy. I think you'll enjoy his unique perspective on the song and the making of the video. There's some stuff I left out that I may post somewhere else in the next few days. I'll add it here if I do. Cheers!

Steven Rosenbaum and Live: Overcome

I was in lower Manhattan shortly after the attacks. My recollection was that it was a day or two later, but I was listening to V at the time, so either I am off by a bit or I had downloaded it before it was released. I took the ferry over from Staten Island and when I got near the WTC site, Overcome just happened to come on. It was actually kind of spooky.

It was only after that when I learned about the connection with that song, the video, the drama behind the scenes, etc.

But I have to say, even not having been there DURING the attacks, "overcome" definitely described the feeling of witnessing the aftermath, which I still remember like it was yesterday. I can't even imagine what the survivors see in their heads.

Wow that got a little deeper than I thought it was going to. Sorry about that.

His timeline doesn't exactly match up with Chad's either, I think it is all such a blur that it's hard to figure out exactly how things went.

The only thing we know for sure is that the song wasn't written for 9/11. lol.gif

Could have been a week or two later, I suppose. I really can't remember at this point. I just remember the debris was still all over the place (as it was for months), and the stench was still in the air.

And I remember Overcome just popping on and remembering how eerie that was.

Edited to add that I was listening on a portable CD player, as I didn't have my first MP# player until 2004. Wow, things change in 10 years!
