So V is winning the battle in regards to SFBM. It will be intereseting to see which album will win this poll. Possibly V? Will V end up as one of the LIVE top 5 best albums...?

Looking back on V now... its pretty bad except for Overcome.

1 - Intro - yup - someone... gonna take your bubble gum!

2 - Simple Creed - Terrible. Starts off with a cool guitar riff, but then becomes one of the lamest songs I have ever heard mixed in with that awesome video... especially with the zoom in of that one guy.

3 - Deep Enough - I thought this song was cool back 10 years ago, but its not.

4 - Like A Soldier - Could be a good song if it wasn't over produced and cut out that lets go to Rays not to Pizza Hut lyric/rap run

5 - People Like You - Yeah... another gem.

6 - TYL - I thought live could have had a great song here, especially if they took themselves out of the lyrics.

7 - FMNBLE - Decent song, the album version is better with the slightly beefed up guitar.

8 - Call me a fool - would have been a great B or even C side or maybe a Holiday single

9 - Flow - Cool riff - decent song

10 - The Ride - And you don't need no car to truly ride!! yeah...

11 - Nobody Knows - overproduced and should not have been on Awake

12 - OK? - 'nuff said

13 - Overcome - best Live song of the 2000's era because it was written for throwing copper.

14 - Hero of Love - I thought this song was kind of cool except for that cheesy 69 reference...

Bottom line is that if you take any of these songs (with exception to Overcome) and place them on Throwing Copper it automatically brings the album down a full grade. Throwing Copper stands right now as a 10/10. Imagine if after Lighting Crashes you get hit with a little "Call Me a Fool" or "OK?"....

Birds of Pray is a much more valiant attempt at an actual record. I felt it could have been really great if they would have had a better producer and maybe put some actual emotion into the recordings.

That is what Live was missing the past decade and that is what Ed is still missing now. I was at a concert in 2005 and Ed looked like he was really starting to get the passion back. He was talking about how he was angry, and how new music was terrible. That they were heading back into the studio to work on some hard hitting tracks... well we all know how that turned out.

I met Ed last year at a free concert in NYC in a parking lot behind a building. There was maybe 40 people there. At the end I asked him to sign my throwing copper CD that was mine from 1994, and he seemed pissed off because it was not "Alive".

Maybe I should have bought some of Eddie K's special coffee blend and asked him to sign that!
