Just discovered the forums about a week ago. Been reading the hilarious posts about SFBM, V and Alive, but I've never heard them. So I set out on a musical journey to discover them for myself.

I dimmed the lights, put on a pair of my pro headphones and turned the volume up. For the next hour or so, I listened... and listened... and what I heard gave me the chills (not the good ones). When it was finally, mercifully over, my head was reeling as I leaned over the side of the bed and vomited all over my shoes. When I was done wretching, I dragged my weakened body over to the computer to write this review. It will be short.

First, I must confirm every single negative comment posted about these albums. They are the trifecta of awfulness. I bet someone right now is listening to Alive in a dental chair, waiting for their face to become numb.

Ed seems determined to make it to Elvis land. 20 years from now, he will be in Vegas, playing acoustic versions of Alive (backed by a ukulele player!) to a bunch of health and wellness professionals at Caesar's Palace. As Ed tries to talk over the chatting audience, who are sipping their melon martinis, laughing and hiding their weddings rings, the two people in the room who are paying attention will hear this:

"That part of my life that was fodder for songs about my daughter, down by the water... " And then he will launch into Love Shines.

In conclusion, it's hard to pick a winner here. They're all so very horrible. Some of the previous posts about Show and Sofia gave me hope. Nope, they suck too.

The only song where old Ed shows up is Zion. That song rocks.

If you haven't heard these albums, believe the hype. Compared to SFBM and V, Birds of Pray is a sonic masterpiece. And Alive should be banned forever to those horrible Christian rock stations on Interstate 5 between Los Angeles and Fresno.

Excellent. I must give rep points for this one. It really makes me wonder how some people actually like Alive and the latter Live releases. It's the zombie-like Ed followers who do. uhoh.gif

I'm allowed to like the latter Live releases in some way if I also openly acknowledge their VAST inferiority to the classic albums.... right?
