New Live? Options

I am going to refer to "classic" Live and new Live, like Van Halen fans referred to Van Halen with DLR as "classic" Van Halen. I for one never accepted Sammy Hagar as the lead singer. Van Hagar sucked. I prayed for over 20 years that I would one day get to see Van Halen fronted by David Lee Roth in concert, and I got my wish a few years ago in Philadelphia.

I am not happy about Live with a new lead singer, if there is any chance of Ed coming back. If there is still a pulse to "classic" Live with Ed; if classic Live is on life support and it is not in a terminally unconscious state, then I don't want to pull the plug and kill it. But if classic Live is dead and burried, and Ed is gone for good, then we have two choices. No Live at all. Or Live with a new lead singer. CCP tell us classic Live is dead. So we need to accept it and move on. Sure, new Live may be haunted by the ghost of Ed. Some people won't accept it. I get that.

As Taylor put it. Playing with Adam Taylor, TGF and Live are three different genres. If classic Live is dead and CCP want to switch gears and make new music with a new lead singer that sounds like Live under the name Live, then I'm OK with it. More music. More shows. CCP happy. All good.

What's the alternative? We are talking about musicians who make music for a living. If the alternative is that Chad Taylor manages the front desk of his wife's yoga studio, Chad Gracey gets a job in a garage rebuilding off-road vehicle, and Patrick becomes a rodeo clown at the York State fair, instead of playing great music for my listening pleasure, then give me new Live.

I don't want to hear the new lead singer perform I Alone any more than I wanted to hear Sammy Hagar sing Runn'in With The Devil. I hope they just play new stuff in concert.

I just hope that Gary Cherone isn't the new lead singer of Live.
