New Live? Options

matty, you have a good synopsis here, but you're slanting your view in thinkin Ed is the main part of Live. Does Pink Floyd & Van Halen come to mind? Anyway, C&C&P are the originating founders, they own the name, they own the sound and musical makeup. I think the fans will be dissapointed that Ed chose not to collaborate with his mates anymore. I am sure the ticket buying public will know it will be a new lead singer. That didn't stop me from following Van Halen when Roth was kicked out and Hagar was brought in. Let's table whether it will work or not until after we see the results, and for the record TGF is not going away. TGF played to a small footprint and didn't bill themselves as CB or Live to draw in fans....it was grass roots and a success from a musical standpoint. I still introduce folks to TGF and they are blown away with the music. Expect Live to blow the old fans away as there is a stripping away of the portion of Live that basically turned his back on the core fan base and style that made him popular.

Thats fine and I dont disagree but the maority of people do not go to fansoflive.com and they dont know the background of the breakup. Its fine if your opinion is that CCP are the heart of Live, and they very well might be, but in no way is that the view from the general public. Ed was the frontman of the band and he is the one who is associated with the music, whether that is the way it should be or not. Live is my favorite band by far and this is only message board i spent the time to follow so please do not take this is as me not being a Live fan. If CCP play Live songs with a new singer, it will seem off to most people and if they dont play old Live songs, then there is absolutely no reason to use the Live name. Seems like a lose-lose scenario to me.

Additonally, i didnt address the quality of the eventual Live music, and have no doubt that it will blow people away, like the TGF cd did. That, still, is not a reason to use the Live name. the only reason CCP would use the Live name is for name recogniton ($$) and there is no way around that.
