After a 8 million seller, yes it was. Secret Samadhi's initial success was based on being a followup to Throwing Copper. It also was one on Live's more maligned albums critically.

I like Secret Samadhi, but it was a far from a success for Live and actually started their downward trajectory as a commercial band.

Look idiot, TC was a phenomenon that crossed all charts and even charted on top 40. Along with that came many fans who otherwise wouldn't follow Live. They purposely went away from trying to duplicate that or even appeal to the majority of those fans. Like I said, they retained their core fans and had a very keen sense of what made them distinct and they were able to tap into that through TDTH until one person strayed from that formula. If you want to just look at numbers in a spreadsheet and say SS was a failure "compared" to TC then so be it, but you are really out of touch with what made them LIVE in the first place. Your idea of success may work for some cookie cutter top 40 band but that was not LIVE. Those that are able to push themselves creatively and make a career out of it are the ones that truly succeed. Ever heard of Rush? I doubt they are too concerned with charts or what fair weather fans think and they've been able to stick to their core principals for about 40 years because they are all on the same page.
