Year end review, I think this one was out there earlier in the year done by a European interviewer who asked the hard questions.

QUOTE(OutToDry @ Dec 30 2010, 9:17 pm) *

Year end review, I think this one was out there earlier in the year done by a European interviewer who asked the hard questions.

I'm not sure if they were up on Youtube previously, but Parts 2 through 5 are now up and they only have about a dozen views each. It popped up on my Kowalczyk Google Alert that I set, so I thought I would mention that the other parts are now on Youtube in case anyone is interested.

This interview is epic. I could watch it over and over, and I wish I were a human behavior expert so I could analyze this thing. There are so many bizaar, uncomfortable parts to this interview. Ed seems to be so phony about everything from the way he picked out the place for the cover photo for his album to the money issues to why he left Live. He needed a change because Live was getting stale so he needed to go solo - but then he says that in Live he did everything from the lyrics to the melodies to the music. It is like watching Jon Lovitz do an impression of Ed - I expected him to refer to Morgan Fairchild. Then I found the Lancaster Online video where Ed was interviewed about his faith and this outfit that he gives money to for drinking water for kids in Africa is a missionary outfit. Ed says that they go and give the kids water and then try to convert them - although converting them isn't the first priority. I guess once you give a dehydrating child a glass of clean drinking water, they become a lot more open to buying what you say about Jesus being your savior. I didn't realize that supporting Ed by going to his concerts helps fund missionaries who try to convert African children to Christianity when they hand them much-needed drinking water. I am actually personally opposed to those kinds of missionary activities.

I can't believe that this guy who understood Krishnamurti as a teenager and assimilated the philosophy into one of the greatest albums of music ever created, is now a self-professed "believer". I was flipping through the channels last night and the Passion of the Christ was on. I've never seen it, so I stopped and watched a few scenes where Jesus was being flogged and beaten. It was brutal to watch. And all I could think of is why would the infinite, all powerful, unknowable God who created the universe and the billions of stars and planets and infinite space and life on this planet for billions of years - why would such an infinite creator set up a system like this where he gets reduced to a man in the first century Roman empire who voluntarily allowed himself to be beaten, humiliated, tortured and crucified, so that if people believe God did it for thousands of years in the future then they can get into heaven. The whole concept of God setting up a system of rules where he had to make a human blood sacrifice of himself and then make new rules that people have to believe in it like kids believe in Santa Clause is just silly on its face. I can't wrap my head around how anyone can believe that is how a just system created by a loving God would work. It doesn't even make common sense. I wish I could believe it. I really do. I would be much more content. I was raised Catholic and I am tortured by the fact that I can't make any sense out of these theological doctrines at all.
