The end for SOL, Dutch fan club to end its activities Options

The Subculture of Live (SOL, the Dutch fan club) has decided to end its activities sometime early 2011. Although this primarily affects the Dutchies (and more specifically, our members), I felt like posting an explanation here, for the international Live community. After all, many international fans and Dutch non-members have taken interest in our club over the last 10 years.

There's a couple of reasons for this tough decision, by the board of the club. Obviously, Live is in 'hiatus' and we have no confidence that the band will get back in its original line-up. Although we have followed Ed and TGF with interest, we feel that we are a LIVE fan club after all.

Moreover, the world has changed in the ten years that the fan club existed. We started with sending out hardcopy newsletters and magazines in a time that it was not easy for everybody to find news and background information through the internet, or to contact fellow (Dutch) fans. We feel that being an official association and publishing a magazine no longer has an added value.

Last but not least, the board members have spent hours and hours of their spare time over the last couple of years. We all feel that it is time to move on and explore other areas of interest.

We will maintain the website for the next few months, to redirect people to current and new (Dutch) websites on TGF, Ed and Live.

Damn, I've been to the Stairway. We had a WhereFreaksTalk transnational meeting there back in 2007.

Ihave never heard anything but positive words and gratefullness to you and Misha and SoL.
