ESPN sucks. They do not offer any time to hockey on their network. The average Sports Center gives about 1 minute to all the NHL games combined.

Their NFL coverage sucks (Berman is horrible) and I don't give a shit about the Yankees or the Sox. Quit shoving down our throats.

ESPN can go fuck itself.

Regardless of the NFL and baseball stuff, you did notice that it was about the STANLEY CUP, right? Last time I checked, I think that it was given out in hockey.

What the hell ar you talking about? I know what the Stanley Cup is. I live in Detroit.

Have you watched ESPN at all this hockey season? If you did you would notice that it's sports coverage lacked something - the NHL. There was on night this season when 11 games were played and the gave 2 games a total of 30 seconds of coverage. It's lucky if the outcomes make the bottom scroll line.

You'd be more likely to catch something about woman's tennis on ESPN than the NHL (and that's not being sarcastic). They haven't covered it since they dropped it from their network. In fact, they intentionally do not cover it.

I don't care if they gave it 2 seconds of time and called it Selling The Drama. That's what they should name their network. ESPN sucks and their lack of hockey coverage discredits them as a true sports network (and so does their shitty ass coverage of baseball and the NFL).

Watch when the finals happen. Last year the Stanley Cup winning game was about the 9th story in the show and got less than 90 seconds of coverage. ESPN treats the NHL like an unwanted step child - it barely gets an acknowledgment as a sport.

First, what I was bringing up was their web site, not Sportscenter. Second, outside of the northeast and upper midwest, no one cares about hockey. I was a college wrestler, but I understand why ESPN doesn't cover it, because the biggest attractions to the average sports fan are college football and NFL, the Lakers, Celtics, and Lebron in the NBA, and the Yankees and the Red Sox in baseball. I'm not a fan of the way ESPN goes about their TV coverage, but their business model on placating the average fan is what made them the most popular sports channel in the country.

Actually you might be surprised by the numbers. Last season out of 18 markets that shared NHL and NBA teams the NHL had the higher attendance pct. in 12 of those markets.

Markets where NHL was higher : New York, Jersey, Anaheim, Chicago, Philly, Bay Area, Boston, D.C., Detroit, Minny, Toronto , Carolina

Markets where NBA was higher : LA, Dallas, Atlanta, Phoenix, Denver, Miami

So while agree the NHL is not as big on the radar in the south, that doesn't mean that hockey isn't as popular as the NBA. But as a die-hard hockey fan I like it that people have that opinion it keeps the dummies away from our sport.

Here in the Philly area no one really gives a shit about the Sixers right now, but everyone is Flyered up.

Just like College football doesn't really have the same appeal in the Northeast like it does in the South.

Plus running around with a bouncy ball and jumping up to slam it through a little hoop is really FUCKING boring.
