To continue trying to add some more positivity to this place in leu of new music to talk about, I thought we could compile some stand out performances from the guys in particular songs where they shine.
Songs where one member totally steps to the front and makes the song anything but generic.
For example Pat completely owning in Heropsychodreamer. Perhaps people here who play in bands can highlight some particular moments they find impressive from a more technical stand point. I love hearing about these sort of things because it can bring you new appreciation of songs when you learn to look at them.  I love listening to and seeing bands with some of my friends and cousins who give insight from their more experienced point of view. If my friend who is a fucking amazing drummer says "this part is really impressive because..." it can really make me see the song differently when I really know what I'm hearing.

Personally as I mentioned Pat's bass in Heropsychodreamer is relentless. He's a beast driving that song. I love when he's the force behind a song. I think that's why I'm going to love this Labor of Love song, it seems to be a "Pat-song".

Ed's voice in The Distance is great for showing the best of his range when he's on song. His range isn't huge but I always thought this one captured him going from low to high really well.

CG's drumming on Iris, like Pat in Hero, is just relentless. I love it. When it kicks in it's like a freight train that you just can't stop. I love the momentum he makes you feel on this one.

Again Ed's voice in any version of Supernatural to me is about as perfect a voice can get. The way he elongates the word Supernatural is chilling. The outro when he sometimes sings "maybe! Maybe!" is magic. It's almost got a country tinge the way he draws out Maybe to sound more like May-beh-heh-hi. I love when he did more intersting things with his voice like this.

Get the talk back to what really matters - the music!

So, share away.

Everything about Where Fishes Go is perfect to me. Just such haunting sounds from the violins and the guitars. Ed's voice is just as haunting. The bridge at 2:30 is fucking awesome. CG's cool snare drum work. Ed singing "sea" coupled with the guitar? effects actually make it sound like it's some sonar sounds under water. And the howling vocals at 2:43 and then "I I couldn't take it anymore" is Ed at his best. They just captured this underwater atmosphere with this song and it fits perfectly with the lyrics.

This is my favourite Live song. That is if I had to choose one. Cause there are so many, but ya. This song would be my pick if I had to choose one.

Yeah, this song is ridiculous. It was always in my top 5,but 13 years down the track,I'd say it would be number one now

I hardly ever listen to Live anymore,or any of my old cds. However I put TDTH on a few months back for the first time in a few years, and was blown away by WFG. They just don't make songs like that anymore. Your description of it is great thumbsup.gif
"I couldn't take it anymore so I went back to the seeeeeaaa,yeeeeeeeeeeeeeah....." ,probably the greatest moment in musical history for mine

It's funny, always thought TDTH was them moving away from the alternative rock sound, but when I listen to it now all these years later, compared to stuff today,it's still pretty out there
