Ed's Hero Falls From Grace Options

I don't know if some of you remember it, but a few years back Ed was totally into Genpo Roshi's Big Mind practice. He even wrote me an autograph one time that read "Everything is happening in Big Mind!" Genpo Roshi was in Ken Wilber's stable of "experts" and Big Mind was a practice that Genpo Roshi charged big money to participate in. Reportedly, he charged $50,000 for a personal session. Well, apparently Genpo Roshi got caught with his "goods" in the "cookie jar" and he is ceasing to be a buddhist monk (although he will continue to charge exhorbatent fees for his Big Mind technique).

It's dissillusioning. You know, from Krishnami to Ken Wilber to Gempo Roshi to Christianity, I am beginning to think that Ed never really had insight and enlightenment, but instead is just a wandering soul who is deperately trying to cling on to something in which he can find refuge from whatever inner pain or demons he is trying to tamp down. In the end, isn't he just putting the Hitlers in a robe of truth on the alters he extolled knocking down, in lyrics he wrote in 1994? Today, he so despreately wants us to hear how great the liberation is if we could just find Jesus as the one who has always been there waiting for us. Yesterday, it was to let it all go and eliminate all beliefs. Or it was Hinduism. Or it was the pseudo-psychobable of Wilber. I'll take whiskey-drinking, leg-breaking, sleeping in a camp-site on tour rock and roll any day.
