This is a great accomplishment and even more impressive amidst the TGF vs Ed debate. It's quite obvious that Ed's charting overseas is directly related to Live's recent popularity and even his charting in the U.S. is probably mostly related to what's left of Live's popularity. He has firmly hitched his wagon to Live. I haven't seen or heard one thing that distinguishes him beyond Live. He appears to be heading down the same path, but now he's on his own. I don't see him reaching anything new, and if anything, he will lose the majority of those hopeful Live fans that realize this is not Live. I don't see any change in his downward trend, unless something hits big enough to distinguish him beyond the Live that everyone grew to love. He'd have to score one seriously major hit to make people forget Throwing Copper as Live's (and Ed's) signature sound.

Meanwhile, TGF has given their backstory but that's all it is. Everything about them is new. Sure, their past had to have some influence in their initial reception but it is hardly what drives them. They have firmly established themselves as a new entity and when measured against what is expected from new bands they are off to a great start. They will have to take this start and continue to grow it but I don't see that as being anywhere near the challenge that Ed has. Their tour is just starting and they will be reaching many people as they cross the country. They appear to be getting good coverage in the towns they are visiting in the early stages of their tour and I can see their momentum continuing to grow. I think they are well on their way and I can already see (hear) the 2nd album coming together soon.

Completely agree. Ed is the same as LIVE was 2 years ago and his album will be one and done with the most attention going to its initial release. TGF will only continue to get more popular as they are better discovered on their tour.

This is absolute truth.

People will get excited just after his releases, just like it was with Live, and then realize just how subpar his music really is. It happens time and time again evident in the releases following TDTH.

TGF will gain momentum with the general public because their music is refreshing and a sound we didn't hear from Live for many, many years.
