This is an interview of Ed with Faceculture. He was interviewed late 2008 there too, and that was one of the most revealing interviews ever maybe, ed talking so much about ANTHING Live related, how he met Pat, Chad, Chad, playing thier first songs, really nice.

Now they interviewed him again, and this must be the uhm... let's say most confronting interview since Ed's gone solo. I even felt a little sad for Ed. Only seen the first part of 5 so far, but the interviewer kept asking about the split up, why he wanted 100.000 lead-singer bonus, etc. Ed only says it's one big mistake and misunderstood, and wants to talk about the creative aspect of the new album.

OK so I've just read this whole thread and haven't watched the videos yet but I'm looking forward to it now, about to watch them then post the rest..


Jesus fucking christ! hahaha I was just saying in the other thread the other day how I wished an interviewer would actually push him for info and this guy delivers! I love how Ed starts out all " " and then it just turns for him ... I honestly never thought I'd enjoy watching the man I idolised for so long squirm like this, but as uncomfortable as it was, I enjoyed it.

This guy is just ... fucking hell Ed. So he admitted that the 100k lead singer bonus is true, he then basically says "I only wanted it to pay for other things that will make me money!" ... the guy is a snake. If he's never done anything dishonest then you'd think he'd have no problem laying out what actually happend to clear his name, his deflection and body language and words are just that of a guilty man.

The whole thing about him wanting to focus on the creativity thing is just bullshit ... if the guy wrote the majority of the music on the last 3 albums (and the evidence of this is on the fucking album covers themselves) then for a lack of creativity he only has himself to blame. Also, if you think what you're doing is getting stale, why break away and make more music that is trying to sound like what you were just making that you thought was stale? Even Nick keeps saying that his solo album has "classic Live vibe" ... I thought that was what was getting stale? If he made an album with more stuff that sounded like Dirty Water, Lotus Flower then I couldn't begrudge these comments as much because he'd actually be doing something different to Live. Right now he just sounds like he's fronting a bad Live cover band who are making their own songs to try and imitate Live of the 2000's. His argument is complete bullshit.

Talking about new partners and new inspiration etc ... that would all be well and good if Live had still been writing together for the past few years and the stuff still got stale .. but the fact is HE wrote most of it the past few years and he even admitted that in this interview so having new people to write with is a bullshit excuse because he hadn't seriously written with the other guys since 1999 for a full album. His arguments have about as many holes in it as the bible he follows.

His comments about him going solo not being a popular decision I'm sure is true in a way. I'm also sure that it could easily be said that him going solo WITHIN Live (ie taking all the writing credits) was not a popular decision, and I'm sure it wasn't.

wow .. really this just blew me away even more than before, the man just lost my respect at a whole new level again .. and that pisses me off, I'm sad about it, I don't want to dislike Ed but he just comes across now as such an unlikeable lying git. Even if Live were to get back together now, I think I'd find it quite hard to follow them again. The only salvation I have now with Ed is that I know he changed .. when he wrote the amazing things he did with the band back in the 90s I believe he was truely there and in the moment .. so listening to those songs now I know I can still enjoy them because he was a different person. Almost any time he opens his mouth now I cant take anything he says or sings honestly.

When he talks now I just can't believe it's the same guy who wrote TDAOC or Freaks, it's not about moving on with life and becoming happier, the content of the songs can change to happier subjects, but the creative lyrics and interesting lyrics that can actually create discussion amoungst people as to the exact meanings are gone .. now it's just plain as day and dull, "this song is about A, this song is about B" there's no mystery, no intrigue .. it's kind of like his career has gone in reverse, his writing on Death of a Dictionary was more interesting than now

That line right there is better than anything written on Alive.

And with that I'm just about done, RIP my ties with Ed K, I think from now on I am just going to outright support him like Sakhmet2 suggested I do in other threads just for the hell of it .. Nick dude, I got your back in most things Eddie K for awhile just because if there's one thing Ed's taught me to do, it's sell out!
