Night Of Nights, Night Of Nights Best Song? Options

I bought SFBM a few days ago and i've been listening to it at work

Is it just me or is Night Of Nights the best song that Live have done since the throwing copper days?

It really stands out to me, I wish they'd done that song first and made the rest of the album as good (not that I dont think the album is great)

And Taylor used to do back up way back in the day, I wonder why they stopped that.?

BEACH - NIGHT

Pat, Chad and Chad sit around a bonfire, glaring into the roaring inferno with reminiscent eyes. Chad T lets out a sigh.

PAT: "What goes it, T?"

CHAD T: "Oh...nothing."

Pat and Chad G look at each other with cheeky intention, and they lunge onto Chad T yelling "Pile ons!"
Chad T laughs in pain and begs for mercy.

CHAD T: "Alright, alright!"

The three grown men dust themselves off as Chad T searches for words.

CHAD T: "Its just that....I dunno, it seems that I used to have more input with stuff, ya know?"

PAT: "What? With us?"

CHAD T: "No, with Live. Like backing vocals.....remember I, Alone?"

CHAD G: "Hahaha holy shit, YES! Thats was a great song. Hey, and might i add, some nice backing vocals!"

PAT: "Yeh, nice work Chad!"

Chad T rolls his eyes shyly, but with a wide grin.

CHAD T: "Thanks guys..."

PAT: "Oh, and nice work too Gracey, with the dancing and stuff!"

CHAD G: (Sighing) "those were the days."

PAT: "Hey listen, when we go into the studio just let Ed know how you feel, I'm sure he'll be receptive to yuor feelings."

CHAD G: "Yeh man, give it a shot.

Chad T responds like an obedient schoolboy

CHAD T: "Ookkaaay"

At that moment, Ed comes running over a sandune whisteling the tune to the river. He joins his bandmates.

CHAD G: "And where have you been?"

ED: "Oh, I just ran to the water. The consciousness of transendental being, the one. I cleansed myself in that oness and ran back FROM the water to be here now with you."

Chad G and Pat roll their eyes. Chad T nervously hesitates his confrontation with Ed.

Pat and Chad G fiercely mouth encouragment to him.

ED: "ahhh, i cant wait to record my new album tommorow, first day of recording....I AM FEELIN' GOOD!"

PAT: "You mean WE are recording tomorrow....!"

CHAD G: "And you mean OUR album....!"

ED: "Thats what I said..."

CHAD T: "Umm Ed...d..do you think there's a chance of some backing vocals this time round...?

Pat and Chad G lean forward in anticipation for Ed's response. Ed lets out a belowing chuckle

ED: "But of course there will be backing vocals. In fact, there will be more than just one set!"

Chad T smiles with glee.

STUDIO - DAY

The band just finish a take of 'Night of Nights' and Ed walks into the mixing boothe to have a discussion with Jim Writ. The rest of the group cannot hear the dialogue as they are seperated by soundproof glass. Chad T looks over to Pat and Chad. They shrugg their shoulders in confusion.

ED: (into microphone) "Okay, Chad, we're ready for the backing vocals."

ED walks back into the recording room and places a set of earphones on his head and stands next to Chad T. The first verse of Night of Nights starts to play in Chad T's earphone and he prepares to add his vocal. As he opens his mouth and sings he notices the voice is not his own. He looks around. Ed is belting out the backing vocals to the song. Behind the soundproof glass Jim Writ is swingin his hips to the beat. The song finishes.

CHAD T: "What the fuck was that?"

Ed takes Chad aside to talk in private.

ED: "You see, the thing is. You know how my voice has become so powerfull and great recently. Well, Jim and I felt that It would benefit the album greatly if it was my voice that filled every second of space on the album....you know....as a sort of gift to the listeners...."

There is silence.

ED: "Response?"

CHAD T: "What about all thast stuff you said about having more than one backing vocalist."?

ED: "All me..."

FADE OUT

I don’t really understand what the point of this imagined dialogue is, to bash Ed and say that the rest guys did not like the new material but they were forced somehow to record the album?
