I listened to a random shuffle of Live music today in the car for a while. All I could think was: "Damn it!"

I know I shouldn't cling or be attached. I know I should be satisfied and not feel craving for more. But Damn it! Damn those guys did something special.

Can we make this thread a place for people to post their reactions when they listen to Live music or hear a Live song on the radio and the same reaction that I did today? Can we make this thread a catharsis?

Let's identify our feelings when you listen to Live music now.

Here are the highlights of my thoughts this morning:

1. There is no part of any song ever made that is better than the following:

he said, he said, he said,
"there was nothing to fear, boy"
and he said, he said, he said,
"worthless are your tears boy"

"just realize your senses
and realize your earth
just realize your essence first"

well, don't you know, now I
I'll never be the same again
I want to walk in the sun
I am alive and well again
no more bittersweet
no more good pain
no more

And it reminds me that Mental Jewelry is the greatest, most ambitious and perfect album ever made. Gracey's drumming is total Gracey. The bass it total Pat. The guitars are total Taylor. And the lyrics and vocals are pure, unadulterated Ed Kowalczyk staring down from the top of the mountain of every other singer who has ever tried the craft.

2. I had one moment in one song where I listened and heard something specific and special. I know we have all had this experience. For me it was this: At the 2:49 mark in Feel The Quiet River Rage, there are these little, perfectly spaced chords that Taylor threw in there. The perfect note, with the perfect timing in the perfect place in the song. That's what Chad does best. It is quintissential Live and it can't come from anywhere else.

3. Damn it. Why did it have to die?

Mentally Jewelry will always be my favorite as well, it's as close to a perfect disc as you'll ever see, especially considering their age at the time, it makes it all that more impressive. I heard the first crash of the snare on PLOTR and was hooked. I was just thinking about that and than saw this thread. I thought about it becasue on the way to work yesterday I decided to give the radio a try to change things up. I'm pulling into work and in the background while the DJ is talking I hear a familiar voice. Turns out it's Ed and that abortion Grace. UGH! I couldn't have handled another Live album like that. So boring and formula it was a travesty. I get into work and the 1st song that pops up on my shuffle is 10,000 Years from the Millet Hall boot in 95. Talk about night and day, really made me sad that it will never be like that again. I don't see them reuniting, the 2 musical directions are such complete polar opposites I just can't see them working on new material ever again. If you don't have the Millet Hall boot, it's a goodie. I thought it was on the multimedia section here, but don't recall. It's classic, the passion, the energy, the set list, man I miss those times. Reminded me of seeing them in Washington, DC at Radio Music Hall (now the 930 club, but a absolute dump than) early in the TC tour. Yes, I'm an old foogie of 40. One of my favorite shows from any artist all time, the place was smaller than many peoples living rooms, warm beer was being sold out of a keg at a fold up card table, there was no barrier between the stage if I remember correctly, it was so intimate and full of energy. Man, it was the greatest. That will be one of those memories that flashes on my death bed for sure.

Oh, on a side note, the opening band was Weezer, the blue album had just come out and they had a heavy sound live than, don't know about nowadays.
