Cheers for posting that. I never knew Ed smoked/smokes. I found this bit quite interesting:

I think perhaps now Ed relates to everyone by going for the obvious, the contrived. TDTH relates to me because of how Ed really took this journey, out in the desert and within himself, with his own visceral feelings and emotions spilling out in every song. That relates to me. And it's still a special record.
