Went to see "Switchfoot" yesterday. They aren't touring Europe very often (at least, not the Netherlands), but I really liked their show. Don't know if many people here know them, but they must be more popular in the US than over here.

I liked how their music was a good combination of (almost) acoustic- and rocking guitar parts, sometimes even combined in one song. Also it was really energetic, although it was quite a small venue (the Melkweg, Amsterdam). The band is often referred to as a "Christian band", ( I guess that's due to their continued involvement with the Christian rock scene, at least in their early years). But they always philosophically disagreed with this tho.

I really enjoyed their albums before yesterday, but I really liked now how they tried to bring meaningfull music, without being too theatrical, overdone or arrogant, but energetic nonetheless.

They are best known for songs as "Meant to Live", Learning to Breathe", "Gone" and "Awakening".

ps. (an offtopic thing), they played in the same venue (Melkweg, as I said) as Live did in 1992 or 1991 when they had their very first show in Holland (you know, the anecdote that Ed told "Nobody is coming......." at the Jenssen show 2006 and later at the LATP dvd). It's a nice venue, but I prefer Paradiso.

I've been wanting to see them for years but have never had the chance. Someday.
