Damn, loadsa things on my mind really.

The vid is fit to be well promoted as alternative rocker of Daughtry and the sort. Saw loads of Lifehouse all across it as well.

But oh holy hell, Adam was shown twice for a sec, while the guitarist and the... umm... the dr.... drrrrr... the creature at the kit were shown all the time during the chorus... WTF? Does not the BROTHER deserve a BIT more attention?..

Anyway while watching, my gal kept saying: Wooo, I am Eddie K, look how I am swapping the clothes... There is only me in this world, now take a look at me from the other siiiiiiide, now I am pretending to be Scott Stapp, and now you will see a lot of water to get an idea why I chose this city to shoot a viiiiiiid.

Damn.

It does still hurt to hear this brilliant voice without the severe Live backing. It does still make me sad to see this face of a man who influenced my life so much and not to see his ex-best friends... It still does ache to take it as it is....

But damn.

I like this song more than half of SFBM.

Never could have expected.

Ed's performance in the video does not match this song at all. Looks like he's about to blow a nad (if he had one) trying to man up. Some of his expressions are really quite odd and he shouldn't have tried so hard to rock. It's just an average AC song.

I am struck by how much more energy and promotion and budget seem to be going into Ed's solo career than went into SFBM when Live was signed with Sony. The last few videos that Live made looked like there was zero budget. This video has special effects and extras walking around and just looks higher budget. And Ed is reaching out to fans constantly. Doing more appearances. Scheduling full band and acoustic tour dates. Giving free shows. He threw up a website and merch store in no time flat. Wow. The Friends Of Live website was run without the band putting anything into it by a very dedicated person who desrved a lot of credit. And the Live merchandise store and Homespun were run on a self-sustaining shoe-string budget by a very dedicated person who desrved alot of credit. Ed seems to care a lot more about this solo work. That's not a bad thing. It's his career, he should try and reboot it if he can.

I just really think that Ed is looking at his career and his life, and is probably looking at his buddy Daughtry and all the money he is making, and Ed is probably thinking to himself that he can make a run at it and see if he can get a second life out of his rockstar fame and fortune and hit it big again. Clearly once Live lost its luster, there is no turning that ship around. Very few bands can come back from the dead. But if he shakes things up, makes a change, maybe he can catch a spark again. Capitalize on the fanbase of Live and then add to it with new fans and maybe even Daughtry fans who think he is cool too. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he gets a little help from Daughtry in some way. I don't begrudge him this. Anybody who cares about their career, their family and is only one or two steps away from the bright light and big money of fame and fortune would invest in a reboot and take a run at it.


I just watched it again. Random thoughts - It looks like a Lightening Crashes ghost effect at the beginning. I don't like the Michael Jackson Black or white video effect where Ed's clothes change. He seems to have stolen TGF's logo style with the words that appear on the screen. His anger doesn't quite match the song because it doesn't rock THAT much. Maybe Ed thinks this rocks more than it does. Where was Adam in the video? Was he marginalized because he has a music career of his own and Ed doesn;t want him to steal the spotlight? I would have put my brother in there at least as much as the other guitarist. I still like the song and video. I just wish the Christian rock message wasn't so overt.

Good and valid points which are probably more truth than not.

I think that to say the urban vectors and fonts used in the video were 'stolen' from TGF are a bit harsh - although I can see where it might seem like that to people. Although they seem similar, they are quite different graphics and fonts to the ones used by TGF. The style is pretty common, and LIVE have used it before in the BOP era with Heaven and the FOL/MTV video of Run Away (with CT solo and no Shelby). But ye, the graphics aren't a problem for me - but their effect in modern day pop/rock is minimal and will appear lame to most of the 'new' audience he is going to be trying to focus on. Again, this is just an observation - somewhat professional since I work with vector graphics and visual composition in video/print on a daily basis and this kind of graphic art is quite common now. I think the fact that it is a 'floral' style font and graphic are purely co-incidental as these are the most common ones used by contemporary media & design houses.
