TGF v. Ed Success Options

Based on what we know, who do you feel will have more success in the near future when it comes to album sales, general public perception and reputation?

Candlebox hasn't played a show in Europe since 1995. They have never played a show in Australia. The band just does not have a strong overseas following. The Gracious Few may tour a bit overseas in 2011, but they will have to lean heavily on the Live side of things, and without Ed, that may not work.

My bet is that if The Gracious Few's album is released this July, it will only be in the US.

And you know in some ways I am totally glad the following in Australia at least will be smaller. I'd love to see them at a smaller more intimate venue and get my face rocked off! But it is a point, Candlebox is completely unknown in Australia ... but hey at some point in the past so was Live. So just because a band is currently unknown doesn't mean that they can't gain a following. Ed may have more immediate success overseas, but it's not to say people can't discover TGF and get into them.

Hell if TGF could get themselves onto a festival tour that would do them wonders .... they'd fit in well at The Big Day Out or something ... that's a tour Live post 2000 would have been laughed off stage at before I'm guessing.

Live had the support of a major label in Australia, and gained success through that. For a US band to tour Australia it costs A LOT of money. That was the main reason that Live never returned once they went indie, they were going to have to foot their own bill for an Aussie tour.

It is going to be tough for TGF to make it to Australia at all. Many established bands haven't ever reached the continenent just because they can't afford to take the loss.
