The thing is that giving Ed a mention like that to me is classy and respectful, respect for someone theyve worked with for so long. Nick probably sees tgf keeping up with Ed as keeping tabs on him, but if Ed did the same and gave tgf a shout out, even with all the shit he's done I'd still respect that. He just doesn't even acknowledge them. Hell he's admitted to not even keeping up with them. It's sad, it'd just be nice to see both sides give a shout out to each other.

It was a fansoflive letter, they were probably contractually obliged to mention Ed on it. It wasn't likely to be out of the goodness of their heart.

no one asked him to 'give them a shout' or promote their music - did you actually watch that interview? He basically pretended his ex-band members, his friends, who he claims he has no issues with bla bla, don't exist, where as TGF have always made mention of Ed, positively and negatively.

everyone's entitled to their views on this. the few of us on here just feel it was a nice gesture on TGF's part to mention Ed and his website and solo album, that is all.

I doubt it was a contractual obligation to LIVE, perhaps in view of the backlash of the LAST fol newsletter email, it was decided including Ed would be the 'better' thing to do. I don't believe they HAD to.

Edit: Just read a few posts above mine...If you do something out of goodness, like I believe TGF have in including details of EK's album, you shouldn't expect the same in return. I don't think TGF expected any return or thanks from Ed. I can't speak for the guys, but I don't think they'd operate that way.

Interview wise, you aren't considering the fact that he might not be allowed to go into details. He has kept neutral, he has recognized the situation a number of times.

Fair enough. It is true we don't know the legal implications (if any at all?) he is under. I like Ed - he has had a big impact on many of us, myself included - so hopefully, the majority of us mean him no disrespect - as no matter how much we may dislike his music, we can't forget the role he played in LIVE.

That doesn't mean we can't recognise and credit one or the other - so how's this: Even if they were obliged to mention Ed, if they really didn't want to, they could've scrapped the whole deal altogether, right? But they still went along with it - and for many of us, the fact that they've acknowledged, is respectful of a colleague and friend. Big ups for it.

Scrapped what whole deal? The newsletter? You need to learn about newsletters my friend. It is soooo worth it to send one out, even if they have to throw Ed in there.

Maybe if you knew what it felt like to be slandered the world over, you wouldn't necessarily use your airtime on promoting people who did it.

I can see this is only going to end up going in circles. I doubt you know any much more about this than any one of us do - which means, this is all admittedly speculative.

I'm not going to get involved in a discussion with you about what should/shouldn't go into LIVE newsletters, nor about who/what should be mentioned - but what I will say, is that whoever sends it out is responsible for whatever is in said newsletter. In this case, TGF is - and I still maintain, it is not something they HAD to do - a good marketing move, but not something they HAD to do - the initial email sent out would've rattled the interested LIVE fan's universe already - and if that didn't, I doubt mentioning 'new projects' would mean d*ck.

LIVE fan. Got the newsletter. Read it. Wow Ed album. Wow TGF album. Classy move considering your friend allegedly screwed you over.

What's wrong with a little positivity?
