I'm sorry....but didn't Live used to be a rock band? Options

I've been listening to the new album for the last couple of days and I have to say I'm quite disappointed. Didn't Live used to be a rock band? All of their songs have now become Pop songs. What happened to songs like the Stage, White Discussions, Lakinis Juice, Feel The Quiet River Rage, Where Fishes Go, actual rock songs? Live seems to have lost all of it's edge.

I will always love Live but this album seems to be a big step back to me.

Its not LIVE's fault that their albums have not been selling. V could have made a major impact in the alt-rock scene but the album dropped in stores a week after 9/11. Many records that came out at that point did not sell because of the events of 9/11. Also, BOP did not sell because Geffen sucks at promoting an album that had many songs on there which could have been released in the alt-rock area. This new album can sell too. However, the way epic is promoting the album and pushing back they are going to ruin sales. As far as LIVE's sound, all these new songs have that LIVE feel to it and I for one love SFBM.

People, it happens. If you like the album, good for you, but this is not the same band nor the same quality.

Y'all realize that those of us that hate the new stuff and love the old stuff love a totally different band than those of you that love the new stuff and think the old stuff is 'retarded'

I know that sounds realllllllly obvious as we say it, but lets face it, a lot of us aren't getting that.

To say the lyrics of SS are 'retarded' is to totally miss the point of that album and it's awesomeness. That cd is the greatest fucking thing ever made IMO. Nothing by any other band can ever come close to how i feel about it. And TDTH is a very close 2nd.

I will sure as hell take crazy amazing songs like Insomnia and the hole in the Universe over ANY song that actually contains the lines 'la da da da' and 'oooh baby'

Exactly, you back up the lyrics of SS because you think the album is so downright amazing. I don't disagree that the album was awesome, but I think you ripping the lyrics of SFBM does not make much sense while standing for the lyrics of SS. I think you simply like the music from SS, it captures a point in your life (as it does mine), and so you backup the lyrics with whatever Ed said. Now you don't like the music, so lyrics that you would have looked past or saw deeper into before, you choose not to, and rip them instead.
