Who else is pumped to see this? Its been a long time coming and based on what ive seen so far i think its gonna be a sure winner.

Put aside the fact that its compeltely revolutionary on a technical level, and the director is the same guy who created some of the richest and most groundbreaking sci-fi / action blockbusters of the 80's and 90's, the fact that this is a completely ORIGINAL idea is something to admire. It isnt based on a book, or a game, or a remake or anything that already has a cult following thereby ensuring it will have some wider appeal, its a brand new idea about a brand new world. I think it takes guts to do that these days.

plus the alien chicks look smokin

Wow, what a trip. Everything i expected. I left the cinema kinda wishing the real world wasnt really real and that i was a na'vii humanoid, frollicking through the glowing flora of pandora at night. Damn reality sucks.

I agree with most of the annoyances or shortcommings people have highlighted. The story is not original at all, and the narrative elements unfold in a predictable manner (outsider gets in with ancient tribe, is disstrusted and challenged, proves himself to earn trust and love of girl, found out to be traitor, earns trust and respect again yadda yadda). I guess its just that kind of movie and this doesnt bother me.

I dont agree that the na'vii were bland, i think i had a semi thoughout the entire film just watching zoe zaldana's tail swing sensually in front of my face in all its 3D glory, however i got the sense i had seen this tribe many times before, in last of the mohicans, dances with wolves etc. I dont think watching the film in 2D would have any bearing on liking the film or not but the forrest at night is where everything really comes to life and some of the more interesting pandora wild fauna is absolutely stunning in 3D. Like the spiralling little whatever's that float and hover around your face just left a permanent smile on my face and goosebumps frequently.

At no point (after the first 20 minutes or so) did i stop and consider that these beings werent living breathing organisms. I have never been so convinced that i was watching real people even knowing they are 100% CGI, and the blending of CGI and live action has never been so seemless to create a fully integrated fantasy landscape. James cameron hasnt lost any of his touch in shooting action, with effective use of slow-motion and fuid continuity in camera set-ups make it a delight rather than a migraine-inducing experience even in the midst of the most hectic of war scenes. I did think the ending was a little drawn out though, with the action being piled on almost to ensure that extra percentage of over-stimulated teenage fanboys dont get bored and walk out to spread the bad word. Hey, business is business.

Its clear what cameron wanted to achieve here and i fell for it splendidly. I was totally enchanted and in love and like i said, didnt want to leave. and not many other films have me sitting in one place with a smile, covered in goosebumps and a boner for 3 hours!
